understand Calvinism

A guide by Amazon Customer "Loved of Christ" (TN)

Products sampled from this guide:
Here are some various books that will present a consistent Calvinism. The common notion that the doctrines of grace implicitly entail antinomies or apparent contradictions is an unwelcome and unhelpful concept.

The works listed here will be from a consistent model where the exegesis and theological argument allows no compromise with Arminian views. Indeed, these works will be extremely helpful in combating Arminian theology.

I Will include both older and newer books. Sometimes, there may be some surprise inclusions. Do not neglect these suggestions because of pre-conceived assumptions about what "Calvinism" really is. Much of Calvinism today is anemic as it has compromised with certain tenets of Arminian thinking.

Periodically I will add more titles:

Predestination Hyper-Calvinism and the Call of the Gospel: An Examination of the Well-Meant Gospel Offer The Works of Augustus Toplady, B.A.: Late Vicar of Broad Hembury, Devon Common Grace RevisitedThe Atonement (Trinity paper)

Calvin: Institutes of the Christian Religion (2 Volume Set) The definitive critical edition in English. This masterpiece should be read by all who desire the knowledge of truth in theology. Calvin is painstakingly Biblical in his formulations. There is a freshness to his thinking and exposition that is still evident even after all these years. God has put his seal of blessing on this mammoth work. You ignore Calvin to your peril!

No Place for Sovereignty: What's Wrong with Freewill Theism McGregor Wright's text is a no-nonsense approach. Perhaps this is the best place to start if one is truly seeking a thorough refutation of all things Arminian. Highly recommended. Sell your coat if you have to, to buy this book!

The Sovereignty of God (Pure Gold Classic) Here is perhaps one of the best books ever written to defend a biblically oriented understanding of God's sovereignty. To boot, one gets a CD with three of the sections of the book read. A classic of consistent calvinism.

Antidote Against Arminianism A wonderful little book. Less than 60 pages by Ness refutes the errors of Arminianism. Recommended by Dr. John Owen.
