A GEM! I feel I need to share my feelings about this inspiring book that will impact many with its hidden treasures throughout. It is a tribute to womanhood. I read this from cover to cover in one sitting, all 400 and some pages. (It was easy to read because of the unique, crisp font. Didn't need my glasses!) This was so inspiring and powerful that it grabbed me deep down inside and made such a stir in my heart that I don't think it will ever leave my thoughts. I fell in love with the characters, especially Angie and Ross. I ordered additional copies to give as gifts because I don't loan my books out, as I don't dog ear, underline words, or break the spines. I only use book marks to mark where I left off. A neat-nick? You could say that, but I collect hard covers and wish to keep them like brand new. I enjoy audio versions too that I listen to in my car because my time is limited but my favorites, I buy the hardcover. It's so refreshing to read something of this caliber that makes it stand apart. Angela Briann Scott has become my role model. I was so totally swept away by this lovely, exciting storyline! Angie started with an ugly, miserable marriage to a heartless B _ _ T _ _ D of a man and ended up with an idealized love, success, personal fulfillment and pretty much living a fairy tale life in St. Remy de Provence, France. Of course, she more than EARNED the luxury with all the hell she lived through to get there, through sheer determination, perseverance and hard work. This wonderful novel is about love, compassion, revenge, sacrifice, the power of endurance and what every woman aspires to be. It tells a beautiful story of a woman who succeeded against all odds and whose dignity, strength and perseverance should be an example to every woman who is afraid to fail, but TRIES anyway. This book is truly addictive, the language is brilliant and a joy to read and the storyline is completely compelling. I found myself giving a shout of "yes!" throughout this heart-felt novel! It should come with a disclaimer that it dramatically increases your positive outlook on life, especially for every woman who reads it. This book shines a light on the possibilities and could change the way you see the world around you. We get so caught up in our busy lives, focusing on what's wrong, what we don't have, that we forget to appreciate the good things and "the fight to change the bad to good". This could be considered a "self-help" book because it can really change your attitude but without asking or directing you to change your life and listing a full gamut of ways to do so. In this cynical age, we often forget how wonderful life really is. The author doesn't try to overwhelm you with emotions of corniness by over-romanticizing situations but shows you, by association, the great things in life you might be overlooking or are so fearful of change, you might not take the leap. This one will lift your spirits, not in the beginning, but as you turn the pages, baby steps to hope, makes it more intriguing and satisfying until triumph brings you to tears. Every time I catch a glance of this beautiful book on my book shelf, where all my treasures are stored, I smile. This is a finely tuned testament that "Dreams DO come true!" A Must For Every Woman of Any Age and a Good One For Men Too! As a matter of fact, every woman should buy this as a gift for all the men in her life. Remember the movie, "What do Women Want?" EXPLOSION IN PARIS will answer that question beautifully! This is a fairy tale that you won't be forgetting any time soon! Seek solace in this amazing story of soothing, breathtaking sights and atmosphere, sumptuous tastes, and the out-of-this-world smells that magically envelope the charismatic characters that will steal your heart. I would recommend this book to anyone in or looking for a valued, love-rich relationship. A GEM!
I love female detectives! This is an enchanting, exciting sleuth adventure that is done in four stories. I love the little lessons in life here and there in conversation..." Don't blame others for things that you do!" Be who you are and stop complaining!" The caseloads take a backseat to female drama. This lovely, warm, endearing, charming novel is filled with colorful detail about life in Botswana. LOVELY! ENGAGING! I thoroughly enjoyed it and the whole series!
40th Class reunion...UGH! This is the last reunion which motivates many class members to attend that may not have otherwise. There is a wide cast of characters, typically, the jocks, the nerds, the "in-crowd", the "out-crowd. The faulty but lovable characters share their life stories briefly showing human vulnerabilities, successes and most of all seeing if they can be accepted for the great, new people they've turned into. It celebrates the joy of spending time with those who knew you "back when". The story is told from the points of view of five different characters and different perspectives on the same situation or occasion. A fun read, for sure!
