So you'd like to enjoy your Xbox 360? This is a guide to the system, games, and accessories. I'm not going to go into technical aspects of the system or the games. I'm just telling you the games that are good, the things I think you need, and things that are available for the system. I hope this can be a guide for people thinking about buying the system. Every gamer is different so pick and choose what you like.
Xbox 360 Arcade - This is the Standard "Arcade" system. It come with a Xbox 360 wireless controller, 256MB of storage and Xbox 360 Composite A/V cable. I would not recommend this version of the system. With all of the upgrades you would need to do for the optimal gaming experience, might as well get the Elite Version.($199.99)
Xbox 360 Elite Winter 2009 Lego Batman / Pure Bundle - This is the Elite version. The Elite includes a wireless controller, headset communicator, standard composite A/V cable , HDMI port and a 120GB hard drive that you don't get with the Core/Arcade system. If you want to save games and download itmes from xbox live, the hard drive is the best value. It is the better deal. The system and controller are both colored black. **Now comes with 2 free games: Lego Batman and Pure**($299.99)
Final Fantasy XIII Special Edition Bundle - Limited Edition Final Fantasy XIII Elite Version. This version has a 250GB hard drive, 2 Wireless Controllers, Wired Headset, Standard definition composite A/V cable, and Final Fantasy XIII. Not a bad deal considering you get an extra controller, 130 GB of hard drive and a better game then Lego Batman and Pure for an extra $90. The system and controllers are white. ($389.00)
Xbox 360 250GB Elite Splinter Cell Conviction Bundle - Limited Edition Splinter Cell: Conviction Elite Version. This version has a 250GB hard drive, 2 Wireless Controllers, Wired Headset, Standard definition composite A/V cable, and Splinter Cell: Conviction. The system and controller are both colored black. Releases April 13th, 2010. ($399.99)
Xbox 360 Live 12 Month Gold Card plus 1 Month Bonus - I'm putting Xbox Live here because I feel it's a requirement. I don't believe you are getting the most out of your 360 if you don't have Xbox Live. Not just the ability to play others online, but to download demos of games (including upcoming games), play games in the Xbox live arcade, chat with friends, compare achievement points with friends and download new content for your games. I just think it's part of the system personally. Also if you have a Netflix subscription, you can watch your movies on your queue on the 360. High-Speed internet is required also, but chances are if you are reading this on Amazon, you probably have it already.
Gears of War - Gears Of War - Xbox 360 - You play a former war hero who leads a team against a race of creatures that surface from the bowels of the planet. Futuristic 3rd-Person Shooter. Great for multiplayer and online play. Won multiple Game of the Year Awards. Rated Mature.
The Orange Box - Orange Box - Xbox 360 Worst box art in the history of gaming. But don't let that stop you. 5 games in 1 "orange box." Contains Half-Life 2, Half-Life 2:Episode One, Half-Life 2:Eposode Two, Team Fortress 2, and Portal. Rated Teen-Mature.
Rock Band - Xbox 360 Rock Band Special Edition From the original developers of Guitar Hero, only this time in addition to playing guitar and bass, you can sing and play drums. One of the great video game experiences you will ever have. Rated Teen.
Memory Card - Xbox 360 Memory Unit 512MB - You do not require this if you have the hard drive. I use this only to bring my Live account to a friend's house. Other then that I would just use my hard drive.
Xbox 360 Messenger Kit - Xbox 360 Messenger Kit - For those who text a lot. Who doesn't anymore? Texting on Xbox Live is does NOT require additional charges.
Wireless Headset - Xbox 360 Wireless Headset - White - I don't own this because the systems already come with a heaset for chatting. But this allows you to chat without the need of the controller.
