Austin Powers: Power Pack Although Adam Sandler might be more famous, no early-90's cast member can match the wicked goofiness of Mike Myers. You'll spend the next week shaking your head giggling.
One Two Three [VHS] To see Marilyn Monroe, see Some Like It Hot. To see perhaps the best paced comedy ever made, see Billy Wilder's other Comedy gem. Don't let the age fool you, you'll still laugh harder than 90% of comedies made since.
Dumb and Dumber One of the few fart-joke movies that's actually worth something, and how. As for sex jokes....
South Park: Bigger, Longer & Uncut This movie, when you think about it, consisted of nothing but potty humor and Canada jokes. Yet somehow, it's the smartest American comedy in 10 years, and, even more ironically, the best movie musical in 30 years.
Monty Python's Life of Brian (The Criterion Collection) As funny as Holy Grail is, this is the better movie. In many ways, it's what Python's all about: combining wacky, off-the-wall humor with sharp sociopolitical commentary at the same time so effectively, you don't even notice. You're too busy laughing.
Blazing Saddles Like fart jokes? Here's the movie that defined it. Don't like fart jokes? See why they're used so often. Indifferent to fart jokes? There's plenty of other excellent humor to cause chest pains from laughing so hard.
Election One, big popularity contest gone horribly, horribly wrong. The sharpest comedy (in more ways than one) of the 90's, and the only recent high school movies worth watching, and the only non-barfable Reese Witherspoon movie.
Little Nicky (New Line Platinum Series) Some complain that Adam Sandler plays the @$$hole too much. Others love it. Some people hate it when he plays the idiot. Others love it. This movie's the only one to combine the two, and support it so well. Like Sandler or hate him, watch this movie. You'll hate it, but that doesn't mean you'll be able to stop laughing.
National Lampoon's Animal House - Collector's Edition John Belushi, I am convinced, is the funniest man to ever grace Saturday Night Live. This is his masterpiece. This movie is the defining frat movie. It shows Belushi drink an entire bottle of Jack Daniels in on gulp. Why wouldn't you watch this movie?
Tommy Boy George Carlin says he likes watching reruns of Saturday Night Live and counting the dead people (true fact: Carlin was the first ever host of Saturday Night Live). See the best comedy ever made by a dead SNL cast member (if not by any SNL cast member, period). As brilliant as Belushi is in Animal House, he can't match Farley's multilayered comedic performance. Farley just doesn't quit. He can do just about anything in this movie.
