Which Roku players can play videos from Amazon Video?
Most broadband-connected Roku players can play videos from Amazon.com Video On Demand. The Roku-SD (Model 1050) is not currently supported, but will be available shortly. To start watching, just register your Roku player with Amazon.com. For information about how to connect your Roku player to the Internet, see the Roku player FAQ's.
How do I register my Roku player with Amazon.com?
To register, you need to link your Roku player to your Amazon.com account. If you don't have an Amazon.com account, you can create one free during the registration process.
You'll need to get a five-character code from your Roku player to register. To get this code, make sure that your Roku player is connected to your TV and connected to the internet with a high speed broadband connection. On your TV, select Roku Home > Amazon Video On Demand > Your Video Library. On this screen, locate your five character code and copy it down for reference during registration.
Once you have your code written down, visit www.amazon.com/roku and follow the onscreen instructions.
Can the Roku player stream Amazon Video On Demand content with 5.1 audio?
HD movie rentals and HD TV shows that are encoded with 5.1 audio can be played on the Roku player.
There are a few things you need to do to enable 5.1 audio:
1. Connect your Roku to a Dolby Digital capable receiver using an HDMI, digital coaxial, or digital optical cable.
2. Connect your Dolby Digital receiver to your TV.
3. Set the Roku player to 5.1 surround sound mode in the settings. (Press "Home" go to the Roku player settings menu, and select "audio mode".)
4. Set your receiver to Dolby Digital mode (and not pro-logic or other multi-channel simulation modes).
5. Be sure you have sufficient bandwidth for HD with 5.1 audio.
6. Find an HD video with 5.1 audio in HD Movie Rentals or HD TV Shows.
Where do I find my Amazon videos on my Roku player?
To locate and watch your purchased and rented videos, select Roku Home > Amazon Video On Demand > Your Video Library on your Roku player. Rented videos will be removed from your video library automatically when they expire.
To find more videos to watch and buy, browse our selection of movies and TV shows on your Roku player by selecting Amazon Video On Demand from the Roku home screen or shop online in the Video On Demand Store on Amazon.com.
Why am I seeing buffering when watching videos?
Buffering, or a pause while loading or playing your video, is generally caused by a slow Internet connection speed. Your broadband Internet connection speed can vary for many reasons that are most likely not related to the Amazon Video On Demand service itself. Please check for these common issues:
Wireless Connection Strength
Devices connected to the Internet through a wireless connection may experience slow connection speeds. To improve your wireless connection, try moving your wireless access point closer to your Roku player or, if possible, connect your Roku player using a wired Ethernet connection.
Shared Internet Connections
When your Roku player is connected to the same Internet connection as other computers or devices, this can impact your connection speed and video quality. This is most likely to happen when someone in your household is downloading files, playing video games, or watching videos online.
Connection to Your Internet Service Provider
If your connection speed is a lot worse than usual, you can try resetting your broadband modem or router to ensure you have the best possible connection to your Internet Service Provider (ISP). If the unusually slow speeds continue, call your ISP to troubleshoot the problem.
How do I unregister my Roku player from Amazon Video On Demand?
When you are signed in to your Amazon.com account your registered Roku player is listed at the top of this page. Click the unregister link next to your Roku player to start the unregistration process. You will not be able to access Your Video Library or purchase Video On Demand content after you unregister your Roku player.
