4.0 out of 5 stars At least it's available, BUT WAY too COSTLY - please lower the price!
Our family LOVES this cereal. I used to buy it regularly at the local Safeway. Unfortunately, as with the experience of many others, the local grocery store no longer carries it.

When buying it at Safeway, I could find it quite often "on sale" for $2 per box - and that box was larger than the paltry 14-ouncers Amazon is peddling here (can't recall, but I...

Grape Nuts Flakes is Grape Nut Flakes. It's not like I didn't know what the product was when I ordered it. We were having difficulty finding the product on our local grocery store shelves. Price was good when coupled with others s for free shipping. Delivery was prompt. Could have been better packaged in the shipping carton. The end boxes of the 4 pack were pretty...

Our family LOVES this cereal. I used to buy it regularly at the local Safeway. Unfortunately, as with the experience of many others, the local grocery store no longer carries it.

When buying it at Safeway, I could find it quite often "on sale" for $2 per box - and that box was larger than the paltry 14-ouncers Amazon is peddling here (can't recall, but I believe it was an 18 oz size)

A LITTLE ARITHMETIC:
1. If I was buying 18 oz for $2, the price was 11 cents an ounce (even if the boxes were 14 oz, the price still would have been 14.3 cents per oz).
2. Amazon is selling us 6 14 oz boxes (84 oz) for $25.14 (and telling us it is "discounted" from $28.89!). This amounts to 30 cents an ounce. You can get it down to 25.4 cents an ounce IF you agree to regular interval deliveries - something I'd be GLAD to do for the RIGHT PRICE!
NOTE: At 30 cents an ounce, we are paying $4.80 per pound - I can buy several punds of chicken, hamburger, or even a pretty good steak for that per-pound price.

CONCLUSION: this great product seems to have disappeared from the local store shelves and, in order to get it, we now have to pay 2 to 3 times as much making grape nut flakes more costly than many meats. I suspect that this is very profitable and I'd rather be a seller than a buyer!!

If anyone know of better pricing options, please post them!

Also, POST and AMAZON, if you are listening, PLEASE see if you couldn't provide this absolutely great product at a little better price. Many thanks for reading.

4.0 out of 5 stars Subtle nutty flavor, August 1, 2007

I always liked Grape-Nuts Flakes better than Grape-Nuts. The regular Grape-Nuts are too much like chewing gravel to me. The flakes have a great nutty flavor. They do get soggy very quickly, though. Sometimes I like them that way. If you don't like soggy cereal, I recommend cutting the serving in half, eat the first half with milk, then add the second half to the remaining milk. Or just eat fast :)

4.0 out of 5 stars GREW UP EATING THESE BACK IN 1950S, March 23, 2011
By
This review is from: Post grape-nuts Flakes Cereal, 14-Ounce Boxes (Pack of 4) (Grocery)

Grew up eating this cereal back in the 1950s, have continued to enjoy them though lately they have changed in consistency, becoming more crunchy. Not as easy to find, although our local Wal-Mart has a recent stock.

At $.17 cents a box back in the late 1950s, and my local Wal-Mart price under $3.00 a box, you're price here really astounds me. They're very good, but at your price of approximately $10.00/box, not that good!

Semper Fi.

The end boxes of the 4 pack were pretty beat up. The product was OK, but the boxes wouldn't stand up when seperated.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great cereal for muffins, November 20, 2009
This review is from: Post grape-nuts Flakes Cereal, 14-Ounce Boxes (Pack of 4) (Grocery)
I love this cereal as, well, cereal with milk, but it also makes fabulous muffins! Just substitute these for your bran flakes or raisin bran type muffins and add lots of cinnamon and nutmeg. Delicious and healthy! I'm so glad I can get this through Amazon because no stores near me carry it anymore.

I LOVE Grape Nut FLAKES. Best cereal out there. Not too many people carry it any more though. Why is that?

No way that I (or anyone else) is going to pay almost $8 for a box of cereal. If you price on Amazon is not a mistake, then you might as well just throw them away!!!!
7 into 30 is over $7 plus shipping. ??? Insane.

I have bought it from Amazon before, but this last Amazon ad says a 6 pack of 14 oz boxes for 55 dollars. Say what! That's over $9 a box!! That can't be right. Even half of that would still be too high. Please check the prices.

This is my favorite cereal! But hard to find. Not one store in Culpeper, VA carries it! I'm so glad Amazon has it! I highly reccommend it! Very filling breakfast, keeps you satisfied 'til lunch! Goes great with bananas or blueberries or strawberries!

Post Grape-Nut Flakes Cereal, 14-Ounce Box (Pack of 6)
All the local stores suddenly stopped carrying Grape Nut Flakes. My husband was devastated. I was so glad to have found it again at Amazon. We subscribed to regular shipments and the first order came quickly. Husband's happy, I'm happy.
