Euphoria is now CHERRYSMASH.,
By Cherrysmash (Washington, D.C.) - See all my reviews
This review is from: grin (Audio CD)
Please note that in 2000, Euphoria changed their name to "Cherrysmash" and released their follow-up album to "grin" called "View from the Floor." This album was nominated for several awards for best alternative rock recording, and best alternative rock group by the Washington Area Music Association. "Cherrysmash - View from the Floor" is [now] available on Amazon.com and is widely regarded as their best work to date.

Excellent Modern Rock Debut,
By A Customer
This review is from: grin (Audio CD)
I remember reading an article about A&R directors for major record labels (the people who decide if a band is ready to present to the label for signing consideration) and the general consensus was that the most difficult part of their job was coming across a band that they truly liked. At the end of a long day of sifting through tapes and CD's to review, the last thing an A&R director wants to hear is a band that they know they have to act upon. It is risky to stand behind a band youbelieve in when working at a record label because, if your decision is wrong, it could cost your label thousands of dollars and possibly send you looking for a new occupation. When I popped this disc into my CD player I imagined what it would be like to work for an A&R department and had that dreadful and nervous feeling that I had to give my praises for this Springfield, VA band. Grin is a thick and rich musical chew. I was already familiar with Debris, which was the single that they placed on the Rev It Up compilation. This song is excellent college rock music, both tough and astral at the same time. What I wasn't prepared for was a full album of strong songs, powerful vocals, and pounding music. Euphoria seems to keep busy playing the area clubs and perhaps this is why they sound so seasoned in this studio effort. I hope to catch them live sometime soon and hope they impress you as much as they impress me.
