Incredible!!!,

"Halfway to NoWHERE" is fun, moving, and lyrically captivating. Each track featured on the album has special meaning that will win your heart and bring tears to your eyes. Jack McTamney is truly talented and has a poetic, soothing, humorous way with words and a distinct, unique, lovable voice that will stick with you forever. Jim Fogarty on lead guitar is riveting, making each note so enticing, it'll have you on the edge of your seat, begging for more! "A Boy and his Dog," "February's Child," "Streets of Gold," "Mr. Ford," "Jeanette," all rich in character and composition; give you a sense of completeness that keeps you feeling great the whole day through! "Hell" will have you laughing, yearning to be at the pub with your friends. The "neo-classic rock with folk pretensions" sounds like a mix of Irish, country, rock and roll that's genuine and refreshing. This album deserves 5++ stars; fun for the whole family (including the Dog)!

I WANT MORE!!!,
By Fran (Bristol, Pa.) - See all my reviews

Halfway To NowHere goes straight to the heart. As a songwriter, Jack works his craft like a master shipbuilder, the end product of which is an amazing journey on a pop music sea to uncharted ports of the heart and soul, both yours and his. His vocals are pure, warm, raw and unique. I get the feeling when I listen to him sing that there's usually a gleam in his eye and a half-smile on his lips. In a culture where so many of our gilded poser pop icons blab on and on about "positiveness", as if it's a real word, and not just something that they just heard some other poser say, these songs ARE......without ever using the "P" word. They lift you up, sometimes with lyrics, sometimes with stunning musical acumen. Jack's power chording rhythms coupled with Jim Fogarty's soaring, searing, goose bump popping lead and slide guitar and mandolin make for a rock solid flight deck on this ship to NowHere. Bassist, Walt Rich and drummer, Roger Cox and producers McTamney, Rich and Fogarty pull it all together to make this CD captivating and an "Instant Classic" for any treasure hunters. I want more.

The various songs in this CD keep playing through my mind -- I can't get enough of them. Jack McTamney reaches to the depths of his soul in these songs, and the results are absolutely beautiful and haunting. You sense both the human and the Divine in these unforgettable melodies.

I can't begin to say enough positive things about this CD. I fell in love with it from the moment I started listening to it, and when it was over, found that I actually liked every song on it. That is something that I cannot say about very many CD'S, or LP's for that matter. Jack is an incredible songwriter, as well as guitarist/vocalist. There are far too many great tunes on this endeavor for me to list 'favorite' song. I have at least 3 favorite songs on it, and no pass over songs. Jack is an incredible vocalist and guitarist, and the band is top notch. This release contains, Blues, Rock, elements of Folk, and hybrids of all, and much much more. I for one play this CD a lot since purchasing it, never getting tired of it, and would seriously recommend it to anyone out there reading this review. I don't think you would be disapointed. I can't wait for his next release. I know I will be one of the first to purchase it, as soon as it becomes available. What are you waiting for. BUY THIS CD!!!!

I loved Half Way to NowHere from the 1st time I listened to it. Every song pulls you out of reality and into it's story. Like the lyrics in February's Child "silent snow, secret snow is melting in my room" WOW, you just have to hear more! The last track HELL has you singing along feeling exactly like you're in an irish pub. to me, the captivating style of the songs are similar to Sting. I'll be anxious to hear McTamney's next cd!

WOW... What a great cover... a man and his guitar "Halfway To NoWhere"... I feel sorry for anyone who has yet to hear this CD , you don't know what your missing... Mr. McTamney did not miss anything , he knows how to write a song . You can tell when you hear him sing he means every word , I hope that Mr. McTamney & Mr. Fogarty ( lead guitar ) are tight... tight like brothers because Jim Fogarty has his guitar sing alone with Jack... they go together so well . The whole band is very good but to this reviewer the guitar playing sticks out as much as the story telling in Jack's songs . There's a little bit of this... and a little bit of that on the record... yes I said record... I'm old school . I can not pick one song over another because I like different ones for different reasons . But just listen to "Mr. Ford" and "A Boy and his Dog"... Oh don't forget "Jeanette" , each song is a story... listen to that guitar on "Beautiful Enemy" & the mandolin on "Hell". I could go on and on... there's only 12 songs on this Cd , I hope they can hold me over until the next JACK McTAMNEY record is out... I can't wait , I guess I'll sit back with my Jack McTamney coffee cup wearing my Jack McTamney shirt and boxer shorts with the Jack McTamney baseball cap on my head and get into Jack McTamney's world of music... Where the hell as this guy been and why doesn't the whole world know of him... Here's your chance , what are you waiting for , go and get yourself this record... I mean CD . If you like talented singer/songwriters you'll love this.....

Captivating Talent,

This review is from: halfway to nowHere (Audio CD)
This CD is truly a reflection of pure talent. This artist encompasses all senses of emotion and artistry through his beautifully written lyrics and music. Jack McTamney surely knows how to captivate his audience. One aspect of this CD to be commended is the artist's ability to span various genres of music in just twelve tracks. It is refreshing to see that there is still talent out there of this calibur. This CD has become a part of my daily listening routine. I hope that soon enough Jack's talent will be recognized by all other listeners; "Halfway to NowHere" is a must-have in any music lover's collection. I look forward to seeing more of Jack Mc Tamney's music in the future!

If you like James Taylor, Bruce Springsteen, Sting, Eminem etc then you'll love this new young talent from the great city of Philadelphia. The music and lyrics blend into music candy for those of us who love to discover new talent. Great fun for young listeners and even the older baby boomers.
