No, you don't as BUTB can stand alone. However, you might want to read Wolf Hall because Mantel is not writing about these people as historical figures, but as fictional characters, so her interpretation of them will not be the same as you are used to from reading non-fictonal works. Do give it a try - it is literary fiction at it's best.
