Very informative book about deafness and Deaf Culture. Contains everything you ever wanted to know about deafness and much, much more. I purchased this book for a Deaf Culture class and will never part with it. I am studying to be an Interpreter for the Deaf and refer to this book often in all my ASL and Interpreting classes. #1 Book on deafness and Deaf Culture.

I wish I had found this book four years ago, when my Deaf grandchildren were born. VERY informative, and extremely well written. A very important work!

Very detailed and informative, huge book, filled with tons of questions and answers. Is very helpful to me since i'm a beginner at learning sign language and learning about the deaf world and Deaf culture. Valuable, worth my time, easy reading.

I am presently learning American Sign Language. My class is only limited to learning about the language, but I had so many questions on Deaf Culture. The Deaf instructor required us as part of course to read this book. The book answers not only what is acceptable and not acceptable in the Deaf Community but it gives me a glimpse of what Deaf persons have to go through in a hearing world. I recommend the lastest edition, much thicker than the old edition, but there has been many updates over the years. A must have if you are really interested in learning more than just signs!!

This is a very informative book on the Deaf Culture from a Deaf person's point of view. It is required for my American Sign Language classes, but it is very useful.

This book is good for beginners. I've read other books that are slightly better and have more information, but this is a good start.

I ordered this book on 18JAN and am STILL waiting for its arrival. The price was right but I need it for a college course I am taking and it has hindered my progress. I now must borrow or rent the book for assignments. The savings I made buying it on line are no longer. I should have just purchased it at my college book store.The book, by the way, is wonderful and enlightening.

This book is very informative; however it is filled with gross generalizations, biases, prejudices, insults and misconceptions.

It's a case whereas the product would sell better if they changed the packaging.
