Plenty of understated wit.,

This review is from: The Highbinders (Paperback)
The Highbinders is one of 5 Philip St. Ives books authored by Ross Thomas using the pseudonym Oliver Bleeck. In this installment, St. Ives goes to jolly olde England to help in the ransoming of an 800 year old sword worth 3 million pounds to the government of France.
Is the plotting believable? No, not in the least. The Highbinders is a tongue-in-cheek romp written with generous helpings of that Ross Thomas staple, understated humor that is both urbane and delightfully cynical. All the supporting characters have colorful backgrounds and almost all are more than a bit shady. Perhaps the book's strongest feature is its pricelessly witty dialogue. Recommended to those reader's who appreciate Ross Thomas' brand of cynical humor and are willing to forego believability of plot.

I have all of Ross Thomas' books. He is so intelligent, witty, funny, cynical, sardonic, complicated but easy reading. I've never read anyone who can describe political shenanigans better than him.
