About the Author
Jose A. Perez began a quest to become a writer after his father's death. While engaging in his writing tasks, he also strived to attain his childhood dream. Like his father, Jose had an early desire to become a singer and a composer. Jose has written his own songs combining "Salsa" with Hip Hop music.
Antonio I. Mejias is a colleague and friend of Jose A. Perez. He is respected for his work as an operating engineer and trade school teacher. Antonio is also the author of the Refrigeration License Examination Manual, used in trade schools throughout New York City. In 1997, Antonio became the publisher of Infante Publications, Inc. and first published "The Hector Lavoe Story," in English.

Excellent; I found this biography very informative, exciting and a pleasure to read. Hector's son, Jose Perez did a great job in describing the love he had for his father, despite the many obstacles between them. The photographs and drawings included in this book were first rate. As a bilingual reader, I found this Spanish version well done, just as good as the English version, The Hector Lavoe Story.
