4.0 out of 5 stars My initial impressions
It's hard to tell from the photos what you're going to receive if you order this.

Since I looked upon this purchase as a way to get my feet wet with out risking the purchase of an expensive hand-built alternative or an antique that may not function; I took the plunge.

Now for my opinion which is based on no working knowledge of Cajun Accordions...

Hohner should be ashamed to put their name on this Chinese-made accordion. No, wait, they don't. Lucky thing, for it would bring shame on that fine old name. I bought one of these several months ago and I've had several reeds go bad. Now I'm going to have to waste my time fixing the thing, if I can. It's sure not worth paying a pro to fix it. Even when it all works, it...

Since I looked upon this purchase as a way to get my feet wet with out risking the purchase of an expensive hand-built alternative or an antique that may not function; I took the plunge.

Now for my opinion which is based on no working knowledge of Cajun Accordions! I was surprised by the good quality of the manufacturing. It's made in China, and I'd guess is an accurate knock-off of "the real thing". (I'd have bought a USA made model if I could have found one at a reasonable price and may "upgrade" in the future).

The sound is good and more importantly for me I'm enjoying playing the thing!

It's great because it's hard to play a wrong note due to the keyboard design (two basic chords C & G) "fingered" like a harmonica, which makes playing simple songs... well simple.

Check out some of the "cajun accordion lessons" on youtube and you'll be playing in no-time. CAJUNPICKER put up a youtube that helped with learning how to hold it properly.

ps. one negative: there is only one sheet of paper instructions giving the keyboard layout... but as I've said above I've not needed more.

Even when it all works, it doesn't work very well. The action is slow and unresponsive. Save your money until you can afford a German-made Hohner.

When I got mine - few years ago and not through Amazon key stuff was missing - so I returned it got another.
The second one had one of the pegs crack in half and fall off immediately. Construction simply too tacky for the price.
I liked the sound of it OK as a beginning instrument but it is truly a tacky piece of landfill.
