5.0 out of 5 stars Una magnifica novela, May 15, 2010

This review is from: El hombre que amaba a los perros (Coleccion Andanzas) (Spanish Edition) (Paperback)

This review is from: El hombre que amaba a los perros (Coleccion Andanzas) (Spanish Edition) (Paperback)

5.0 out of 5 stars Magistral cronica de aspiraciones traicionadas y angustias engendradas por vidas amorales, October 13, 2011

By far the best depiction of what it means and how it feels to live in the current Cuba - the emotional desolation, weariness and fear of a generation that was promised a brilliant future by its leaders. This is one of the stories that the novel narrates. There is also the story of Trotsky and his Catalan killer and the implicit similarities of the Russian revolution to the Cuban process. The novel is very well written. Padura is an accomplished author. I highly recommend it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Muy Interesante, September 6, 2011
¡Sumamente interesante!

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent, November 20, 2011
The story is simply amazing, even more so knowing the historic truth behind it all. It would be a perfect read for anyone; from those who prefer history related readings to those who enjoy a bit of fiction and drama, and especially for anyone who appreciates a dose of reality that so few writers are capable of putting into words. I can personally attest to the very accurate portrayal of the storyteller's life in Cuba during those extremely tough years in the 90's. Padura has done an amazing job in making these three stories of men from completely different worlds and times come together and fit perfectly in one book. A masterpiece.
