Excellent but quirky LEDS,
This review is from: i-Blue 737A+ Bluetooth GPS Receiver (Electronics)
Receiver is excellent. It is palm sized and fits conveniently in my pocket. I use it with my PPC 6700.TTFF is excellent and very responsive. Battery life is good.I've only chargde it once in a few weeks and even at that I was worried so Icharged it before a trip. Only quirk is the LEDs that do not make sense.Would have been nice to have smaller LEDS and flash in a different manner when operational. Seemed a little bright and irritating in the dark at first on my dash. If u can get past this it is excellent.

Wonderful sensitivity, tracking, battery life, sync times... Equivalent if not better to a SirfIII chipset, and in a very small and reliable package. Best buy !

This gps receiver is simple to use and satellite reception was always great, even during snowstorms, being indoors, or metro areas. In six months, I never experienced anything that disappointed me w/ it's performance with my Dell Axim X51. After six months, I took it on vacation to use in a rental car and it was stolen from my luggage at the airport. I've replaced it with the exact same model. I highly recommend this i-Blue 737.

I picked this up about a year ago for use mainly with my HTC excalibur cell phone (Tmobile Dash). It acquires a signal quickly in almost every setting. The only time I cam recall having an issue was in NYC, getting on and off the subway and with the buildings, it would take a long time to get a good lock. I have no experience with other gps so don't know if that is normal for a city like that. In downtown LA it didn't have the same problem.
I use this for geotagging my photographs. I keep it in my pocket getting in and out of cars, going into gas stations, etc and it almost always keeps a good lock, at least enough to not time out on the windows mobile app I use. The battery life is great, I've only drained it completely once in a year. I generally use it an entire day and charge it at night, but I've used it more than one day without charging before. It accepts a standard mini-usb plug for charging (but not for data). I have also used it connected to my laptop via the cheapest bluetooth dongle known to man and it worked just fine. Aside from the issues in NYC, the only other complaint I have is that you cannot share the signal with more than one device at once. I'm not sure if this is inherent in bluetooth or not, but I see no reason a one way communication device such as this couldn't be used on a laptop and phone at the same time.

Get this unit Verizon users!!,
This review is from: i-Blue 737A+ Bluetooth GPS Receiver (Electronics)
Verizon users, get this if you want GPS on your Blackberry!! For less than six months of Verizon's VZNavigator you can get this unit. Just received this GPS receiver. Paired easily with my Blackberry Pearl 8130. Haven't been able to get it to work with Google Mobile Maps yet but does work great with Blackberry Maps. Fast satellite acquisition! Locked on to 11 inside my house. Very small unit for great portability and travel. Haven't used it much yet but looks very promising. Documentation is very limited but it worked as described.

I use it with my T-Mobile Dash and Google Maps. I travel 4 days out of the week in various cities and this is what gets me around whatever town I'm in. Why lug around a standard gps when you can have one of these bad boys? I only have to charge the battery once every 2 weeks or so and it works like a charm.

I use GPS and MS Streets and Trips daily in connection with my work. I purchased this item to replace an old Pharos GPS that finally died. The connection time is much faster with this unit. The battery lasts a long time and charges by USB. I get several 10 hour days on a single charge. I am very pleased with it.
The unit also works with my Samsung Omnia.

Good buy, good value,
This review is from: i-Blue 737A+ Bluetooth GPS Receiver (Electronics)
This is a great value. For half a hundred bucks, you aren't gonna find a better device. Immediately worked out of box, paired with my Nokia N800, and immediately began reporting my GPS location. Not sure if it's the device or the n800, but the refresh rate is about 1-2 seconds I'd say, which is typical of most any GPS device.
If you're going to an unbundled GPS device to use with your own device, this is the perfect buy. Rechargeable battery and auto-off make this device a 5-star.

Good, but maybe better with commom batteries,
This review is from: i-Blue 737A+ Bluetooth GPS Receiver (Electronics)
Works perfectly with Google Earth and Sonyericsson mobile. I only think it can be better using commom batteries like AA or AAA, but this have an own branded battery.

great alternative to pricey garmin and socket units,
This review is from: i-Blue 737A+ Bluetooth GPS Receiver (Electronics)
This is a great little GPS receiver. I used it with my iPaq 2700 series. It was easy to connect. I initially had a little trouble with the unit dropping the connection frequently but this was easily fixed by ensuring both units were fully charged and disabling Windows Mobile 5 GPS management.
I bought this unit to do some performance comparisons between various handheld GPS units and this one performed as well as the pricier Garmin and Socket bluetooth devices. For 1/4 of the price you get a decent GPS with good performance (though no maps). Over all the unit feels pretty cheap, certainly compared to my Socket GPS and my Garmin GPS unit. I've only had it for a few months but I don't expect it will survive too many drops before I have to replace it. Compared to the $200+ Garmin, replacement isn't such a big deal. I haven't had any trouble with battery life and it seems to pick up fixes fairly well. As with most GPS units the lights are not terribly intuitive but the limited documentation helps you figure out which light means you have a fix and which means your batteru is dying. All in all, a great device for a great price. |
