Works with Ipod touch 3rd gen and iphone 3g with iOS4.

This cable does what it says and works with Ipod Touch 3rd gen (64gb) and an iPhone 3G. However I dislike how it comes in 3 parts. I thought the USB cable was a standard micro-usb port, but it's not. It's some proprietary crap. Also the connector doesn't seem long enough for a secure fit, it...

In shopping for a video out cable, I quickly found myself concerned with Apple branded quality versus many aftermarket brands. This product is nearest Apple brand quality as any I have seen.

Simple, easy to use and has ample cable to connect to RCA jacks.

Pros:

-The contacts are gold coated and also color coded Yellow (Video), Red (Right), White (Left)

-The cable is long and will reach easily around most TV's, DVR's, LCD's

-Optional Power Cable plugs directly into Apple connector so you can power the phone while using it as an output device

Cons:

-Would be nice if optional Power Supply cord was the same length as the video cables.

Note to buyers: Make sure you read the enclosed instructions on how to set your iPhone to "Video Out- ON" before thinking the cable doesn't work...(see video)

Great quality for the low price, simple to use, very plug and play.

I have an iPhone 3GS 16GB that I travel with and use to play DVD's downloaded to my iPhone..the 16x9 resolution DVD is extremely clear and I only wish Apple made an iPhone remote as well.

5.0 out of 5 stars really works, even with 3GS, August 10, 2009

These actually work as advertised, even though we bought this for the 3GS, it works on our ipod touch and video ipods as well. We have had many cables that work some of the time, these work all the time. Note there are three pieces to this set, a 3 pin microphone jack to three lead RCA cable (for use with older video ipods), a mini-usb connector, and a dock unit that plugs into the bottom of the newer units that the first two cables can then plug into. It is a lot of cables, only the latter one is unique, but it has worked flawlessly so far. We got ours for about $30 at a Marshalls store.

It's some proprietary crap. Also the connector doesn't seem long enough for a secure fit, it wobbles a lot and if you bump it, it loses the connection. The USB cables falls out as well. With all the negatives, it does work, just not the greatest.

4.0 out of 5 stars Plugs are stiff, works awsome., January 23, 2010

I encode my dvds (bought at my expense) with Handbrake, they are all on my computer and can be loaded to my iPhone 3GS. On road trips I load a few movies and it keeps my son entertained, and nice to watch while at the hotel. The only thing I don't like are the plugs, they are bulky and stiff. But I can live with it cause it works like it should. I've seen these at the AT&T store and laugh at the price they charge, I'm glad I bought from Amazon.

5.0 out of 5 stars SSSWWWEEETTT, April 6, 2010

I was reluctant to purchase these cables. I have purchased a lot of cables for my Ipod and none of them have worked with the video to my t.v. (I have the newest version of Ipod available) These cables actually WORKED!!!!! We hooked the Ipod up to the t.v and watched movies off of my ipod. It had great picture and sound quality. At first I couldn't get the cables to work but I went into Settings on my Ipod and changed the video settings to NTSC instead of PAL. It worked like a charm. I am so excited!! A++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

I bought this cable for use with my car's built in composite connectors. These cables deliver sound and video from my Ipod Touch to my car's audio/video system; no complaints. I'm glad I did not purchase the Apple brand cables at twice the price.

5.0 out of 5 stars Tested on iPhone 3GS with iOS 4.1 and iPhone 4 with 4.1, November 17, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: i.Sound AV Cable Works with iPhone and Made for iPod (White) (Electronics)
To begin with, using these cables on my iPhone 3GS with iOS 4.0 was flawless. I used it for music videos, tv shows, and movies on my phone with no problems at all. I never tried using it with Youtube or Netflix. After updating my iPhone 3GS to iOS 4.1, the cable stopped working. 2 weeks ago, I upgraded to the iPhone 4, and installed iOS 4.1 on it. Voila...the cable was working again. So I can't vouch for a 3GS with 4.1, but on an iPhone 4 with iOS 4.1, it seems to work just fine. I still haven't tested Youtube or Netflix on it, since I have both of these available for use on my blu-ray player, but I'm guessing there will be no problem with playback of either of these.

4.0 out of 5 stars Does exactly what it's meant to do, October 3, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: i.Sound AV Cable Works with iPhone and Made for iPod (White) (Electronics)
I was skeptical about these cables working right, especially after reading that only the Apple brand cables could get videos from your iPod to your TV. But the cables really do work as intended, and you save about $20 versus the Apple brand. I have an iPod touch so that's what I'm reviewing this for. Here are some pros and cons to consider:

Pros:

- Works as intended (gets video from your iPod to the TV)

- The sound and picture quality is great for watching videos that are stored in your iPod. The exception to this is Youtube videos. If you click on a video that is poor quality on Youtube, don't expect it to be any different on the TV.

- The red, yellow and white plugs that you hook up to the TV fit well in their respective spots. I've read that they are either too tight or too loose, but they fit just fine for me.

- It comes with a charger. This is very useful seeing as how playing video on your iPod for long periods of time drains the battery fast.

- It's $20 cheaper than Apple brand and I imagine they do the same thing.

Cons:

- The cables are really short. I have to sit on the floor when I watch videos because the cables don't reach far enough. And the length of the charger's cable is even shorter, so it makes it awkward to find a spot where I can have the iPod plugged into my computer and the tv.

- I tested the cables using my sister's iPod touch, the newest generation, and it didn't work. I'm assuming it's not made to work with newer models.

There are some special settings you have to put it on to get things working properly:

- Go to Settings > Video > Widescreen ON (this will get the videos to play on the TV)

- Go to Settings > General > Auto-Lock > Never (when watching Youtube videos, your screen will lock automatically after a certain amount of time and that will cut off the video as well. If you set Auto-Lock to never, then the screen won't lock and you can watch the video all the way through. You can change it back once you're done.)

So my final say about this product? It's a good solution for watching iPod videos on TV and it's cheaper than the Apple brand. I can't give it a perfect rating though because the shortness of the cables and the fact that it doesn't work with later generations is kind of a setback. It's also better to store videos in your iPod and watch them from the Videos tab because they play at a really great quality on TV and it doesn't require internet connection (Youtube videos can be VERY slow to load).

4.0 out of 5 stars Finally a cable that works with the ipod touch 2G, February 26, 2010

This cable worked fine with my Ipod Touch 2G and I'm really glad that I've finally found one that did.

You can see movies and slide shows only on the TV. The sound quality is great.

I only wished you could have seen other stuff like games through it as that would have made it a real winner.

2.0 out of 5 stars Won't work with video, November 24, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: i.Sound AV Cable Works with iPhone and Made for iPod (White) (Electronics)
I haven't been able to get these to transmit video from my ipods (2nd gen touch, current 160 gb classic) to my TVs. I've on several TVs. It was unclear from the description whether these calbes worked with the newer ipod versions, so that may be the problem. I was able to get it to transmit sound through my stereo receiver, but it's really too expensive to use for that purpose only.
