I was looking for a solution to address the less than lengthy battery life of my 3G. My fear of running out of battery juice and being left with nothing but a high tech coaster led me to the i.Sound. This charger/battery works perfectly. You just snap it on and it recharges the iphone battery. It's compact size makes it easy to carry around and the retractable USB charging cable plugs into your laptop or to an included plug charger. You can use your iphone while it is being charged. Compact, convenient, and works. Need I say more.

I"ve had a couple of these for over 7 months & came back to write this review because I've been so pleased. It's small, very light weight for a battery & best of all it charges the phone, so you don't have to have it attached all the time... once the charge goes from the battery to the phone, just disconnect it & your back to a fully charged phone.

I travel in exotic places that may or may not have access to power for a few days... with these little puppies I can charge my phone fully overnight without a power outlet anywhere near. (No it doesn't take overnight to charge the phone -- it's actually very quick to transfer the power -- but it's handy to do overnight just like an outlet if you don't have power available.)

You can also use it as a power adapter to charge the iphone -- just put the battery on the phone, plug it in & it charges both the phone & the battery. Handy to not have to carry a separate charger.

It's also got prongs that fold in and a very spiffy reel on the cord of the charger. These things matter when you're traveling.

Some reviewers mention that it doesn't work with older iPhone... well, no, it doesn't & that's pretty clearly stated above. Hardly a reason to give a bad review -- it's like complaining that your car doesn't fly very well.

This product did not charge my iPod Touch Gen 2 nor did it function as a back up battery. I had to return it to Amazon.

This only has a 120 day warranty and mine only lasted slightly longer.

has non-standard connection to a USB charger meaning that if you loose this proprietary connector you are "up a creek".

Works great as dual function charger, backup battery. OK weight. Wouldn't want to carry it around in my pocket. But perfect for a purse or briefcase/backpack. Good enough for 1 iphone 3G charge, maybe 3/4 full. Might be better ones out there.

Items great but beware that this does not fit in input with the Otter case on so I can't use item.

Great product. Lost the USB to battery connector and had to buy another battery pack. Now I have two batteries.

I bought two of these, one for my iPhone (1st gen) and one for my wife's iPhone 3G. Both worked well on hers, but neither functioned on mine as a backup battery. I could charge but not power my phone. When I called iSound's customer service line in the middle of the day repeatedly during their stated office hours I got a message saying the office was closed. Unfortunately I had to return it as defective and not functioning as advertised. Perhaps that's why the price is so low.

Our company supplies all sales people and execs with iPhone 3G's. All of us travel pretty extensively, catching planes, renting cars and staying in hotels around the country. It's inevitable that we're going to occasionally run out of battery power just when we need it the most.

I purchased 3 of these batteries as a test. After charging them, I kept one and the other two went to other execs. Within two weeks I was a hero three times over. In the first case, the President of the company flew back in to Laguardia airport and found his car battery dead. It was of course raining, his cell phone battery was almost dead and he had to wait over an hour for roadside assistance. Suddenly he remembered the backup battery I gave him. Disaster was averted, nad he was able to talk to the roadside assistance people and direct them to where he was.

The second save involved a flight to China. The iPhone was left on in a briefcase and the battery drained completely in-flight. Upon landing there was no place to conveniently charge the battery, and the traveler was having problems meeting up with his local contact. Backup battery to the rescue.

You get the idea... You can easily tuck this particular battery in to your purse, briefcase, backpack, etc for use on your own personal rainy day. I find that this particular backup will pretty much completely charge your iPhone's internal battery. Moreover, you can attach it and immediately start making phone calls, even if your iPhone battery is completey dead. It doesn't even seem all that noticeable, looking like a natural extension of the iPhone.

I deduct one star because it requires a proprietary charger. It's not a fatal flaw for this product, but some competing products allow you to use standard USB cables to recharge. I prsonally would prefer that option.

It doesn't really work as promised and doesn't charge the phone as it should. I maybe get 10% more battery life when I use it, and it doesn't charge as it should when plugged into the phone. It would be better to go to the Apple Store and spend the money on the real thing.
