5.0 out of 5 stars Mostly great - just need to get use to the software
The device is nice and small. I was able to attach it to my backpack and go. The geotagging of the photos works well. The software is clunky but overall pretty good once you get use to it. I am a Mac user running it under Parallels 5 on a Windows 7 VM and it works fine. It did everything I needed it for - geotagging photos and documenting the trip.

3.0 out of 5 stars Nice little device
I bought this device to be paired with a bluetooth GPS adapter for my Nikon D300. This receiver is nice, small and light. It has a silicone case. It acquires the GPS signals really quickly. I bought this device to be paired with a bluetooth GPS adapter for my Nikon D300. This receiver is nice, small and light. It has a silicone case. It acquires the GPS signals really quickly. Software is great. In fact, I will probably now just use the receiver and use the software to geotag my photos without the GPS adapter. It's that easy. Having said that, I could have probably gotten the lower model and be just as happy as long as the software is the same. But I will give this device only three stars. Minus one star because the light on it is hard to see in the daylight. You have to shield it a bit to see if you turned it on and if it has acquired the signal. Plus it uses a proprietary connection to the USB port. I haven't found a place that just sells the connection so be careful not to lose it. It also uses a battery that the end user is unable to change. So you'll probably be buying a mew one when the battery dies. Minus another star because when I emailed the company about 3-4 days ago regarding buying an extra cable, I have not gotten a response.

All-in-all, I'm happy with my purchase. It's not perfect but with the software, I'll probably do away with my GPS adapter. One less thing needing to use my 10 pin slot on my camera.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good for what I need, but far short of 5 stars, August 24, 2010

I use this for GPS tracking on hiking trips to keep a log of where I've been. Usually I keep it attached to my dog which makes for more interesting paths.

Things I like:

Water resistance - holds up in light rain
Easy form factor - one button, two LEDs
Software - fairly straightforward, although I haven't used it for geotagging yet, just GPS logging. The sports mode is nice in breaking down average speed minute by minute. Judging by the raw GPX files I've looked at it does a good job of filtering and smoothing data. Unfortunately it does not export the smoothed data, just the raw GPX file.
Fairly fast GPS pickup

Things I don't:
Battery life - about half of that rated. On the 10 second interval I got about 40 hours of life last week.
Not waterproof - it will die if submerged. This is my second one. Ignore what reviews say, the manufacturer does not claim waterproof.
GPS pickup - the GPS first starts recording when it has any lock at all, which it usually thinks is a long ways a way, so it shows you jumping around for a minute before it gets a stable lock. As it is, I just delete these manually which cleans them up
Software - slow sometimes, doesn't handle large tracks well. Somewhat clunky interface. Only PC interface, although there is a mac command line interface somewhere out there.

And they don't claim that it is. But I couldn't even get it to work with the alternative BT747 software that I've used on my Mac for otherwise incompatible GPS loggers.

On the other hand, it's small, cute, lightweight and waterproof (if you believe the specs) if not particularly ergonomic.
