Ei Ei Yoga - Major Disappointment,
By jim stockton (Springfield, VA United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: E-i-E-i Yoga: for Kids [VHS] (VHS Tape)
We purchased Ei Ei Yoga based on the available reviews. The criticisms sounded picky; the praises indicated this would be fine for a three year old. The tape is not truly Yoga. In the first place we do not "play" Yoga, we practice it. Instead of starting gently, reaching a peak, and ending quietly, this video leaves a child highly stimulated and not particularly refreshed because there is no logical progression of activity. The tape is poorly edited and sometimes downright tasteless. The children are charming and enthused, but the video is neither.

I really didn't like this video. I bought it together with Yoga Kids, which is wonderful. I found the songs and style of Ei Ei Yoga video so cheesy that I was embarassed to have my children watch it.

pandering and useless; no guidance, no real yoga,
By Trixie Revenge (planet earth) - See all my reviews
This review is from: E-i-E-i Yoga: for Kids [VHS] (VHS Tape)
this tape is worse than useless. i got it for my toddler and me to do yoga together. most of the 35 minutes is given over to songs that aren't fun or catchy and don't seem to serve any purpose. if adults have any experience with yoga at all they'll be frustrated by the lack of yogic workout. kids and inexperienced adults will be frustrated by the lack of guidance and instruction for the poses. often the yogi oki dokey assists one of the (blandly multicultural) kids with a pose, and instead of showing the correct way to do the asana on the video, the camera focuses on the yogi's face and head. the actual yoga sequence is executed too quickly for little kids to follow, and it is way too short to have any real effect in terms of stretching, meditation, or relaxation. a bust in my book. save your money and buy a real tape (like am/pm) and have the kids do it with you.

Ewww!,

This review is from: E-i-E-i Yoga: for Kids [VHS] (VHS Tape)
The video was a mess from the beginning. The tape quality was extremely poor. The video had weird scenes like wind blowing very strong, I thought the kids would be blown into Oz. The instructor was performing poses that most children would not be able to do. The tone of the video was too strange for mainstream. I agree with the reviewers that called this video "creepy".

Ei Ei Oki Doki !,
By A Customer
This review is from: E-i-E-i Yoga: for Kids [VHS] (VHS Tape)
My 2 1/2 year old daughter is very interested in yoga and was wearing out the intro to one of my husband's yoga tape. We rented Ei Ei Yoga from the library to see if it would satisfy her curiosity for yoga. At first, my husband and I, just as some of the other reviewers, found the tape to be bizarre and laughable. A few hours after the first showing, our daughter came to us with, "Ei Ei Yoga...come on...pleeeeeeeese"! She has asked for it every day since. We had to take the tape back to the library (today) and our daughter was very upset. As un-yoga-like as it is to us, the toddlers seem to love it. It allows them to mimic us with a tape that they can enjoy and relate to. While it is not really a yoga tape, it does plant the seed for daily exposure to yoga and a general love of exercise.

I completely agree with the other reviewers. This video is creepy and annoying. Not only that, the poses are difficult and inappropriate for young children.

E-i-E-i Yoga turns exercising into creative, healthy play.,
By A Customer
This review is from: E-i-E-i Yoga: for Kids [VHS] (VHS Tape)
E-i-E-i Yoga presents the basics of early childhood yoga with toe-tapping music, animal characters, and a safe, loveable yoga teacher-farmer named Yogi Oki Doki. Children find themselves doing yoga naturally with the video because the entertaining and engaging show turns exercise into creative, healthy play. The children who take class in the video with Yogi Oki Doki are so sweet and natural...the kind of kids any parent would be glad to see on their T.V. or in their back forty. This is the quintessential "interactive" video. Your child will sing and stretch along from start to finish, then ask for the video again.

Best video I have ever bought,

My oldest daughter loves this video so much. When the weather is bad I know she can still do some exercise and what a fun way to do it. She is getting better and better at the poses and it is presented in such a non-threatening way that she doesn't mind that she isn't as flexible of some of the kids on the video. I highly reccomend it. I enjoy doing the video with her, and my 4 year old is starting to do the poses as well.

Creepy,
By A Customer
This review is from: E-i-E-i Yoga: for Kids [VHS] (VHS Tape)
My 2 1/2 year-old daughter really enjoyed this tape. But my husband and I found the narrator to be so creepy and bizarre we've permanently hidden it. The cartoonish set, jumpy characters in costumes and grating music were so at odds with the spirit of yoga practice that I could barely stand to watch it all the way through once.

My kids and I like this video,
This review is from: E-i-E-i Yoga: for Kids [VHS] (VHS Tape)
I have this and "Yoga Kids" and we like them both. My children are now 11, 8 and 6 but we've been using this since they were 2, 4 and 7. My guys like to watch it, like the music, sing the songs on their own now and then and like doing the poses. "Yoga Kids" might be better for beginners or kids new to yoga but we like them both fine. I didn't find anything "tasteless" or "creepy" about this video. I think it's perfectly fine for kids and I would recommend it to other parents.
