Disappointing - does not work with low power tools,

Overall quite disappointing. Build quality is positively cheap. There is no UL certification and finally it does not work with low power tools. If you have a tool that is pulling in less than 40 watts, for example, a dremel tool, it won't work. I decided to buy this auto-switch instead of Craftsman's autoswitch, since this one had a seven second delay. It may be better to buy BITS smart power strip or autoswitch by craftsman.

Works as advertised but not on low power tools like Dremmels, etc. Don't have to remember to turn on the vac switch in addition to saw, router or sander; I love it! I'm buying another for my shop vac/drill press configuration.Remember, you can add an multi-plug addapter to the tool side (top plug) of this switch so you'll always have say for instance, the table saw, router or other devices plugged in. Had this hooked up to router and dust collecter. It worked 3 times and died. Rockler was great and sent me a replacement. It died after 2 times. Rockler refunded my money. Great idea and poor execution.

Used this in three different combinations :1. 5" porter cable orbital sander and a rigid 5hp shop vac 2. 5" dewalt orbital sander and a rigid 5hp shop vac 3. 6" rigid orbital sander and a rigid 5hp shop vac Worked perfect in all three combos. Did not fail to turn on vacuum when tool was turned on. Turns the vacuum on so you dont have to remember to and shuts off 6 seconds later. Sometimes I'd forget to turn on the vacuum when sanding (before I got this) and would realize it when dust was flying everywhere... This takes that problem out of the equation. Edit: Worked well for the following combos also: 4. 12" DeWalt SCMS and a Rigid 5hp shop vac 5. 12" Bosch miter saw and a Rigid 5hp shop vac EDIT: Well the switch fell off of my Dewalt miter saw stand and cracked in half! Looking in at it I can see it is not built very ruggedly. The plastic broke right where the screws thread in. A short length of Gorilla tape has been holding it since. Now I make sure to put a loop in the cord and a gentle knot so that it doesnt suffer a second fall.

A must have for saw users,

I've connected this to my miter saw, and it saves me having to turn on/off the dedicated shop vac for this tool every time I cut. Works great, and I don't know how I got along for so long without it. Now if there was only a 220 version for the table saw and band saw ....

Cheaper/better options,

Works OK, but I have a few different vac/DC switches and this one is simply overpriced ($39). For half the price ($18 right now) you can get the "Craftsman Auto Switch" with two accessory sockets and a mode switch. The iVac system is a bit more money but has many more features.

This switch looked like the ideal solution to dust control for my wood shop. I would benifit to have a lug to allow a screw to hold in the wall socket. It does not do well with heavy power cords plugged into it.It worked fine for about a year then failed with a pop, disabling the table saw.

A must have for a trim carpenter using miter box, table saw etc while using vacume. Such a great and handy idea.

Wanted something to keep the dust down while finishing houses and this works great! Had a friend who had just bought a high end shop vac with a built in switch like this for $300 and everytime I pull this out he kicks himself. You might not be able to run every tool off of this, but most of them will work with this.

Works exactly as advertised (check out their video). Puts an end to not turning on the vacuum for "one quick cut" and also avoids the hassle of having to turn it off again. One of the handiest shop tools I've ever purchased.
