1.0 out of 5 stars Why is Amazon dealing with this company?, May 22, 2009
This review is from: iBUYPOWER Gamer Hardcore KO-985 Desktop PC (Intel Quad Core Q9400 Processor, 4 GB RAM, 2x500 GB Hard Drives, Nvidia 9800GTX 512MB, Blu-Ray Drive, Vista Premium) (Personal Computers)
Why is Amazon listing this unethical company? I bought a desktop from this outfit and the build quality was atrocious. The motherboard failed after one month. Returned the machine at my expense and they inserted a new motherboard that didn't fit the shell - so they left off the back of the case and shipped it back in pieces. The machine worked extremely slowly and then gave up after one year. Their customer service is non-existent. Their attitude is horrible.

Amazon should not be listing companies such as this.

Google these guys and read some customer reviews before ordering. To make a long story short, I ordered a custom gaming rig from them. They shipped it late and broken, and then charged ME for the return shipping after trying to get me to open the case and re-attach things (things hadn't been hooked up and a fan was loose in the case, which caused damage during shipping). When I sent it back and demanded a rebuild, they took their time on that also. When I finally got it back, it was STILL broken with even MORE loose items in the case, and once again they insisted that in order to honor any warranty, I had to take the side off and try to re-connect things to the MB again. When I demanded that they give me my money back under their 30-day money-back "guarantee," they said it had been over 30 days since my initial order (due to THEIR screwups), so tough luck. I yelled and screamed and got shafted for another return shipping fee. At the end of the day I got my money back through my credit card company but in the interim I had to deal with IBuyPower's shoddy workmanship, non-existent customer service, long wait times on the phone, and a horrid attitude from everyone I spoke to there.

Go online and have a look and you'll see that my experience with them was the norm, not the exception.

1.0 out of 5 stars Not worthy of even a single star, but Amazon makes me put one., May 22, 2009

I will keep this short. Do not buy a computer from this company. I purchased a custom gaming desktop from these people, it was down by the end of the third month. The wait time on the phone is so bad, you would honestly have a better chance of speaking to someone if you drove to the company's actual brick and mortar site. And if you do manage to accidentally get an actual human on the phone, prepare for an all new battle. It is not worth the time, effort, money, or your sanity, to even deal with these charlatans. Save yourself the headache and the rising blood-pressure and pass on this "deal". Why is Amazon even putting a company of such low standards on their site? Oh well, to each their own.

1.0 out of 5 stars unhappy gamer, September 2, 2009

Where to start...so i bought a system from ibuypower, very excited about the price, and it has yet to run one day without crashing. Every day I get the good 'ol blue screen of death that I haven't seen since I had a system that ran windows 98. However, having a system with hardware or software problems does not rate a poor rating; it is the reaction of ibuypower as a company that earns this system a one star rating. When I called them to inform them that I am having a problem with my system the tech support guy starts telling me (a not-so computer literate guy) to pull the system apart and start removing components and call them back once I have rebooted the system with the memory pulled out one card at a time. This makes me uncomfortable on more than one level. I am not a computer guy, I pay computer guys to sell me systems that work or to fix my systems if they don't work, but I myself am not a computer hardware technician. The company expects me to pay to send the system in and they will "repair" it (but not replace it) and they expect me to do a significant amount of troubleshooting before they accept it. I have played this game with a computer manufacturer before. They make you pay to ship the system to them, then they fiddle around with the BIOS, reinstall vista, and send it back to you (while you spend about 2-3 weeks without a computer) and when you start it up again...TA DA...it still doesn't work! So you lather, rinse, and repeat until you run out of money or patience (whichever comes first) and in the end you are left with a computer you payed good money for that doesn't work and a manufacturer that refuses to stand behind their product.

The customer service supervisor I spoke to informed me that "if we replaced all the systems that had problems with them we wouldn't be able to stay in business". Exactly how many buggy, glitch-ridden computers are you belching forth onto the marketplace? Why is ibuypower not willing to stand behind their systems and send replacement systems to those who receive broken systems?

Before you purchase a computer from this company ask yourself how comfortable you feel knowing that if there is a hardware issue with your system you will be left on your own. Buyer beware!
