Bass sounds great, treble is good, mids and highs.
Aces and 8s
Needless to say, I returned the pair and received a replacement hoping that it was a defective unit.

First off, I own several pairs of headphones, both in ear and over ear, and the iBeats are above and beyond anything I've used. The first step was finding the right fit (of the 7 tips included, I found 2 that fit perfectly, one regular mold, and the other the "Airlock" style). The standard tips are a snug fit, and allow the bass to hit fairly hard. I have a pair of Koss in ear headphones, and the Bass does hit harder, but the iBeats bass is much cleaner. The "Airlock" style tips fit snug as well, and I found that while in my ears, they were comfortable, but after long periods of wear, after removing them there was some slight pain. I also own a pair of Skullcandy Hesh over ears, and the iBeats again sound better than the Skullcandies. While I would recommend the Hesh to anyone on a budget looking for good sound for your money, I would recommend iBeats as well to anyone that can afford them. The ControlTalk feature is nice for the iBeats as well, and I've had no complaints from anyone on the other end of my phone. If I had one complaint it would have to be that the ControlTalk on cable volume and music control feature does not work on the iPhone 3G, but I recently upgraded to the iPhone 4 and cannot complain about that now. The thing I can't give enough praise about is the noise cancellation. iBeats block out almost all outside sound, and you dont have to jack the volume up extremely high to do it. Simply put, it is excellent. All in all, these are the best sounding ear buds I've ever heard, and I would not hesitate to recommend them to friend or family.

***UPDATE*** 3-11-2012

While I still rate these at a 5, the pair I reviewed in my original review are no longer fully functional.

I love headphones. I love bass and rich sound. I work all day using headphones so I want a great set to get my music rolling all day. So I always want the best headphones out there.....comes the iBeats by Dr Dre.

I bought these and in less the 6 months one side stops working...also the Auto Control stops working on my iPhone...great...so I get my receipt and call Monster....After waiting for 25 minutes(this is the norm ...expect this average waiting time) they expect me to have the receipt so no problem and they send me a replacement...

After 1 month and a half I get an identical pair and all is joy...for only 4 months...

Again they break(mind you I take care of my headphones, I never take them anywhere so they never get tangled)...So I called them again, and again I wait for 30 minutes and tell them the issue...They say "sorry its out of warranty from your purchase"....Err these are new pairs how can you go from my initial first pair???

The rude customer service says : "Will that be all?" I was not happy and said how Beats wasted my time..eeeep....he hanged up.

So great I wasted 30 more minutes of my life and $ on this junk....Dr Dre initial these headphones but man you lost my respect because you are representing and awful product and SPECIALLY the customer support...

So my advice for that price? Get Sennheiser, Sony, Klipsch, heck even Skullcandy anything is better than any Monster products...I will try Souls and hopefully they have better tech support and be better overall.

So here's my rest of my stat on this garbage of a product Beats by Dr Dre - iBeats!:

Pros: Bass (to bad it doesn't last).

Cons: Customer Service(notice how this is the top con?), ControlTalk flaws, [...] did not work for me.

I hope this review helps someone decide wether you want to waste time on this rubbish and deal with the witches of Monster Beats Customer Support@!

Before I review this product I just want to clarify that I had the REAL ibeats by dr. dre not the fake ones. I got them from Best Buy.

Anyway, about a year ago, I bought ibeats from my local Best Buy. I got a 2 year extended warranty for it. They worked perfectly fine and sounded great. The first week I had them, the right ear bud malfunctioned. I didn't really care so I took it back and got a new pair. Two weeks after I got that pair, the right ear bud malfunctioned AGAIN. I started to lose confidence with these headphones after both pairs broke in less than a month. So I took that back and got another pair. My third pair lasted a good six months before the left ear bud malfunctioned. I gained more confidence about these headphones, considering they lasted much longer than my first two pairs. So I replaced the headphones again and got my fourth pair. That pair lasted another six months and of course, the right ear bud malfunctioned. Four times did these headphones break. Now I give up on these headphones. There's no reason I should have to replace them over and over again. On the beats website, it said that ibeats were built to last. Yeah, mine broke four times. Pretty faulty advertising right there. Other than the malfunctioning flaws, the headphones are okay. If you put each ear bud deeply into your ear, you'll hear a boost in bass for sure. But it's honestly not all that spectacular. So, I would not recommend these headphones at all. Stick to a more expensive pair of Beats headphones or go for a different brand all together. It's so ridiculous.
