It is powered by the computer's USB port, and provides a passthrough port, so you don't lose the use of that USB port when using the iBreeze. The iBreeze is built to provide quiet cooling, as well as improved ergonomics (by providing a nicely raised angle for using the keyboard). As Powerbooks have gotten smaller, thinner, and more powerful, they have also gotten hotter. That heat can make the top and bottom panels uncomfortable to touch, and can, over time contribute to deterioration of your Powerbook's performance and reliability. Also, using a Powerbook on a standard height desk surface requires lifting your elbows and curling your fingers down to the keyboard... a decidedly unnatural posture. The iBreeze lifts the rear of your Powerbook just enough to match the natural angle of your arms, and avoid much of this physical stress and discomfort.

I've purchased several of these, and given several as gifts. It's one of the most effective cooling stands I've tested. However, my latest one, ordered via Amazon, was shipped in a corugated wrapper inside a bag, instead of a box. When it arrived, the product box was crushed well enough I couldn't give it as a gift, and couldn't reorder in time to present it looking good. Rather disappointing. It needs to be shipped in a box, not a cardboard wrapper!

I purchased this because (1) it fit my 17" Laptop; (2) had two fans and (3) was clearly unobtrusive (clear Lucite construction). It provides a solution to the inherent over-heating problem with Toshiba's 17" laptop that caused many, many crashes ever since purchased in April '08. I was pleasantly surprised at the new ease of typing provided by the designed angle of this stand, a feature that I hadn't originally considered. They even included a USB port to balance the one it uses. Finally, the price and sale. How can you beat it and at my door in 24! "I mean hours, boy! Hours!" as Foghorn Leghorn would say. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
