This USB 3.0 seven port hub works as advertised.

I like that the ports on the hub are on the side, which makes it easier to plug in cables.

This is a review of the iClever USB3.0, 7-port hub.

Contents of the box includes:

➺ 7-port hub
➺ USB Cable 38" in length
➺ Power Supply 100/240V, 50/60Hz with attached DC cord 46" in length and detachable AC cord 46" in length.
➺ Warranty Card
➺ User Guide

The hub case is solidly constructed of black anodized aluminum but has a curved top and bottm. Because of the curved bottom the hub is able to rock as it sits on your desk.

The left end of the hub has DC 5V and USB 3.0 inputs. Of note is that the DC plug does not fully seat itself in the input and an uncomfortable amount of unsheided plug remains visibly eposed.

The distance between the evenly spaced USB ports is just about .5". This is wider spacing then some hubs and less that others. I like the spacing width as I seldom have all 7 ports occupied. In the rare occasion where a particular USB Plug is wider than normal, not enabling the adjacent port to be used concurrently, I just leave that adjacent port empty.

The right end of the hub has an on/off button that turns off the power to the entire hub whether you are using the AC power supply or just computer bus power.

The hub can be used without having to use the Power Supply; just using the computer bus to provide the power. In most instances you would want to use the power supply however to ensure that you'll have a trouble-free experience when using higher current devices such as many external hard drives.

Although the product description states that the hub, "Works not as a standalone charger but a USB hub only. Provides no special functionalities for charging devices like iPhone, iPad or any other smart handsets and tablets," I was able to connect my iPhone to the hub and charge it successfully.

The hub is warranted for 1 year and has CE and FCC certifications.

I was provided a sample for review.

In my opinion there is no such thing as too many USB ports. I use multiple peripherals, and like being able to plug them in at will without clogging up too much of my computer’s precious real estate. A 7-port hub as this one would be ideal for my purposes, but I have also discovered that it has several restrictions.

As a dedicated USB 3.0 hub it works great. It has enough ports, and all of them depend on external power. The file transfer speed was quite noticeably faster than for my USB 2.0 devices, but I didn’t really clock it so I can’t give you a precise measurement of it. One thing you need to keep in mind about all USB ports and hubs is that the data transfer speeds are shared across all of the attached devices, so mode devices you attach, the slower the transfer speeds will be. Thus, a 7-port hub can really make each one of the individual ports really slow if all of them are used simultaneously. The only major shortcoming of this hub, though, is the required use of the power supply – it adds more cable clutter to the desk (something I was trying to avoid) and the power supply “brick” covers too much of the precious real estate on my power strip.

The hub is, as advertised, also backward compatible with the USB 2.0 standard, but here in particular I wish that I didn’t need the external power supply.

The hub can also double as a stand-alone charger for multiple USB-chargeable small electronic devices.

The hub is well built, and looks and feels solid. It is solid black, and it looks good on my office desk. I wish there were a silver colored option as well, as it would go well with my Apple work environment.

If you have multiple USB 3.0 devices and peripherals, then this hub would be a great way of consolidating them and connecting them all to the computer. However, for less peripheral-intense users the hub doesn’t deliver as much of a value.

The hub is perfect!!! I can use it at home, but it makes an excellent travel companion too. I have a laptop, but need to hook up a keyboard, real mouse, portable printer, and portable scanner when I travel. Since my laptop is compact and used just for traveling, this hub fits perfectly in my bag and allows me to use all the devices on just one usb port.

I just simply plugged in the hub, my devices, and was up an running in a matter of seconds. It comes with a built in protection, so I know my devices will be safe. Though I sometimes use all 4 connected devices at once, I haven't noticed any lag or reconnecting as with other cheaper models.

This is great for that person that travels or just wants to eliminate the jungle of USB cords flowing into the computer.

Highly recommended!!!

Color Name: 4 Port USB 3.0
The 4-port hub is fairly compact at 5.1"x1.6"x0.9". I wouldn't worry about dropping it on the floor - the anodized aluminum construction makes it practically indestructible. To test the operation of the hub, I plugged it into my Windows 8 laptop and connected a USB 3.0 card reader to the hub. Into that I plugged a 32GB Class 10 SDHC card containing 452 image files totaling 2.33GB. Then I copied those files to the laptop's hard disk. The resulting transfer speed was 30 MB/sec, which is a representative speed for file transfers with USB 3.0 throughput with my system, considering that I use a midrange laptop that doesn't set any speed records.

The hub has a power button that turns on the hub and illuminates a blue LED that indicates the hub is live. For powering things like USB hard disks or other devices that require more power than a USB port is capable of delivering, the hub has a 5V DC input jack and a USB cable that can be connected to a 5V DC source such as a wall charger for cellphones. The gaps between the four ports are approximately 0.45". I have one device that might not fit if all the ports were being used, but most devices should fit easily. With some compact USB multi-port hubs that I've used, the gaps were as small as 0.24", and these can be a problem.

The hub includes a separate 39" USB cable for connecting the hub to a computer. The cable is a little bit thicker and less flexible than I like, but you could provide your own USB cable if you liked. I like having a separate cable because if there's a problem with the cable, you replace the cable (that's cheap enough) without having to toss the hub.

My opinion: The iClever 4-port USB 3.0 hub is well designed, solidly built, and has good data transfer speeds. With provisions for a 5V DC power supply, it's capable of connecting most any USB devices to your computer.
