This was a under $8.00 item when bought. It has a readout with 10mm high main numbers and reads out in inches, mm or inches and 1/128" fractions of an inch. I am not too sure of the usefulness of the fractional readout. Accuracy claimed is +/- .008" but when checked with my Craftsman micrometer set calibration rods of 1", 2" and 3" lengths all lengths were correct within +/- .001". I figure that this is excellent accuracy for a basically 100% plastic caliper that cost under $10. It is in the same accuracy range as claimed for the SPI Swiss made carbon fiber dial caliper I also have which cost about 4X more than this.

IMO the main use for a non-metallic caliper is for checking items which are soft or delicate enough so that a metal caliper might cause scratching. I have seen them used in body piercing shops for checking jewelry gauges for this reason. They do also have the advantage of being light and possibly being less subject to damage if dropped.

i recently got this caliper and i must say I really love it and it has worked just fine. i build custom 1/24 model cars and sometimes i need to customized the body, suspension, chassis and so on. it locks really well number show perfect i like how it has an Inch to decimal conversion on the back of the caliper. it has a good case to keep your caliper.

when i got it, it came with a battery in the caliper but it came with an extra battery. it as really hard to take off the battery case but i used a x-acto knife to open the battery case

the only thing about this is there is like an input thing that is on top of the caliper next to the tightening nob that looks like an USB port and i dont knwo what it is used for but if you now you can always message me fyi i added a pic about it

Does exactly what I needed it to do. Note that this is made of polycarbonate, not metal, so it is soft. I needed something that would measure body parts and titanium is too hard and could cause pain. The tips on this caliper were pretty pointy at first, but a nail file fixed that.
Only thing I've had trouble with is that it doesn't turn on right away. It's like there's a battery problem, but the item came with an extra one so the problem should fix itself.
Measures great!

works well for the price. wish it was a little bit more accurate. The plastic slider can get bent so be careful don't bend it.
