I bought two 24-inch & one 12-inch versions of these units because I didn't want to spend half the price on my machine for the DRO capability. I can live with the lesser accuracy, since it seems to be very repeatable.

I installed these my Grizzly G0619 Small Mill, which is a Sieg "X3" machine. I shortened the Y (12") scale by about an inch, and the X scale about 6 inches. It was very easy clamping them in my 4x6 bandsaw, and cutting them with the dark side up. I drilled & tapped a few holes in the machine's cross-slide saddle, the table, the left side of the machine & a hole for the headstock. I used wide L-shaped steel brackets to connect the sliders to the appropriate moving parts of the machine.

I was annoyed by the auto-power-off on the displays its pretty short like 5 minutes. However, the sliders still measure the position when they are off! So I don't lose anything if they shut off on me.

I'm not sure about the battery life of these, I will learn soon enough. If it is too short, I will hack an alternative power source onto them.

It would be nicer to have real DROs, but at 1/5th the cost, in my opinion, it is a reasonable compromise.

I will not hesitate to add these to any of my other machines, as the are significantly more accurate than the dials, and the machine dial backlash is no longer a problem.

I just called the manufacturer and he states that the accuracy is only +/-.002" per 6 inches. It is stated that way on their website. The advertisement here and elsewhere on the internet states "accuracy .001 inch". This is not true.

The manufacturer is currently developing one that will be more accurate though. Its release is planned for about 1 month from now. The guy on the phone was really nice and I would definitely buy their products.

I was skeptical at first and bought one for a project we had work. The day it came in at work, I was so impressed with it I ordered three for home use. I have an old mill and use them on all axis and I’m very happy with them. Half the fun was coming up with the mounting brackets.

Put this on my milling machine to replace an existing linear gage, with the old gage I didn't have the travel and the display always seemed to end up under the vise or something else where I coulnd't see it well. So this new gage with the remote readout is great. Really like the fractional sub display also.

My Drill/Mill is getting rather old (20yr) and much used, resulting if a lot of play in the table screws. After completing a precision detector holder for measuring X-rays for a client I decided that it was time to go digital. I looked at many readouts from $100 to $600 I found this by iGaging. Low cost and with remote readouts it was just the thing. It is well made with magnets in the readouts so I can put the readouts anywhere I want them.Easy to install on both X and Y feeds. I just completed a job with many milled slots and holes and wondered why I had not converted to digital sooner.

Excellent product. Protected from swarf and dust. Imperial, Fractional, Metric readout. Relatively easy to install. Now have three of these on various machinery and will probably add a fourth.

THIS PRODUCT WORKS! I CAN NOW MACHINE WITH CUTTER PATH ACCURACY. NO MORE DIAL READING AND CONFUSION, ACCOUNTING FOR LEAD SCREW BACKLASH AND THE 'OOPS' FACTOR. FOR ME THE SUPPLIED BRACKETING WAS NOT VERY USEFULL EXCEPT TO USE AS A TRANSFER TEMPLATE FOR MY OWN SIMPLE MOUNTING BRACKETS.

Installing this a machinist's challenge, but we machinists enjoy challenges. Think protection from chips and fluids. Think aluminum angle and naugahyde. That done, it does beautifully.

This is definitely "bare bones". It doesn't calculate bolt circles or triangle sides. It just gives measurements to the nearest thou. If you need tenths, you will have to spend a LOT more money.

I have old machines. My "youngest" is at least 30 years old. My oldest, 140. Having these helps you get accuracy out of less than optimal hardware. Think backlash in your lead screws. This doesn't "care" about backlash, only table movement..

And the PRICE! NOWHERE is there better price.

If I could rate their customer service separately, I'd give them five stars and an exclamation point. I ordered, and UPS delivered. Apparently, the baggage handling gorilla from the commercial got to play with these while UPS had them, so they were mangled. Customer service got a second set of rails out to me within days. You can buy with confidence.
