5.0 out of 5 stars Use this with the A00 tip to make a car charger for your Kindle
I have confirmed in practice and using iGo's website that the combination of this iGo Auto charger (PS00252-0005) with the iGo power tip A00 (6600600-01) iGo A00 Sprint Phones Power Tip works to charge my Amazon Kindle in my car. Using iGo's website to confirm this combo enter: select your device=Other, select the brand=Amazon, select the model=Kindle.

1.0 out of 5 stars No manufacturing integrity.
I bought this unit a little over a year ago from Radio Shack and was given a sales pitch that I can use this thing for many instruments just by changing the tips. Great idea for a product except this charger don't last and it's sealed so you cannot replace the fuse. They made this unit so after about a year you have to buy a new one.

I have bought aftermarket chargers that fall apart after a few months. Not so the iGo. This is a fine little product, it does the job quietly and well. I find the interchangeable tips to be a great idea. When I change phones, it's only a few bucks to get a new tip. This charger is sturdy and looks like I'll get a couple of years out of it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Think about the long term, February 24, 2008

This review is from: iGo Auto Universal Auto (DC) charger (Wireless Phone Accessory)
This is a good long term purchase for the following reasons
1) Can charge multiple items without having bulky chargers for each one. I keep tips for our cell phones and ipod in the car
2) Upgrade or change cell phones/other electronics? No need to buy another charger, just a little tip. Less to throw out, a little more eco friendly in the long run

Before, I had always made sure to use car chargers made by the phone's manufacturer. I've always had bad luck with generic car chargers eventually failing. But the problem with the OEM chargers is that they're typically a bit pricey.

But this charger is much cheaper, and allows you to simply buy new tips for new phones. This allows you to save a lot of money. As far as reliability, only time will tell. But they sell this product on AT&T's website, so I'm sure it's much better than the generic chargers. So far, so good.

The only minor issue I have is that, unlike the picture, the charger I received from Amazon wasn't silver with a blue light. Mine was champagne with a green light. Not a big deal, since it still works the same. But the silver with blue light looks a lot a nicer.

5.0 out of 5 stars Love it!, November 26, 2007

These are fabulous! I've had mine for 3 or 4 years now. They're way more cost-effective than constantly buying new cell chargers.

Extra bonus-they work on other stuff too, like your GPS or ipod. The website can tell you which 'tips' you need. Those run about $10.

It's good in the long term, although changing tips and plugging stuff in when you need to charge different things is a pain if you're driving. Pull over first! They also sell a splitter for this so you can charge more than one thing at once.

The blue lighting on the charger is also cool.

When you're out on the road and your Kindle (or other electronic device) battery is running low, here is what you need. Just get this DC charger and the appropriate tip (the tips are more expensive). For the Kindle it's the A00 tip. For other devices, go to the products homepage and match up the device with it.

Then put tip on the adapter, the DC charger in your DC cigarette lighter (or many autos now have extra DC adapters)and then into your kindle or such and it'll charge!

The iGo chargers and tips are really great. I use this to charge my cool *NEW* Kindle, iPhone, iPod, TomTom 920 and other devices. They are just great products. I only need one charger to charge all of my electronic devices. Extremely handy & nice.

2.0 out of 5 stars Be Careful, March 18, 2009
This review is from: iGo Auto Universal Auto (DC) charger (Wireless Phone Accessory)
I bought the iGo charger to be able to charge my cell phone in the car while on trips. What I was not aware of was that this car charger required a tip, which I also would need to purchase to be able to be compatible with my phone. I wish it had been more clear about this and provided a place to maybe purchase this tip. I have search and only found this tip in radio shack. It cost about as much as I paid for the iGo Charger. So Be careful in what you buy and make sure it is what you want.
