The A61 successfully charges the iPad! (unlike the new A133),

This review is from: iGo Power Tip A61 6600661-04 - For select Apple iPod MP3 players (Personal Computers)
I just received an iPad and assumed my iGo charger would have no issues since I already have the A133 tip for my iPod Touch. Sadly when I plugged it into my iPad via USB and direct to the AC adapter I received the "Not charging" message. (Worth noting that it will charge SLOWLY if the iPad is in standby with the screen off.)
At first I was annoyed that I couldn't charge via USB but then a forum made me think differently. They asked if the reader would expect to charge their laptop from a USB cable rather than a normal AC adapter...valid point. Why, however, can't the iGo charge my iPad? After some research I found some one claiming that the discontinued A61 tip would charge an iPad successfully. I just received my discontinued A61 tip and sure enough...it works! I cannot find anywhere that tells the output of the two tips and the iGo website doesn't even mention having an iPad charger available...WTF? The A61 is also charging my iPod Touch and if I had to guess it will charge faster because it has a higher output than the A133 Moral of the story is that for now it seems iGo is neglecting those of us with iPads (which have been out for a significant amount of time at this point) and you'll have to look for a seller on Amazon or elsewhere who still has some of the older A61 tips available.

Get a splitter,
This review is from: iGo Power Tip A61 6600661-04 - For select Apple iPod MP3 players (Personal Computers)
I like these tips, but if you're driving and using these igos, be sure to pull over when you change them. They can be tough to switch. Also, it's a good idea to get an igo splitter so you can listen to the ipod and charge your phone or use the gps, etc.
As for the person who claims this destroyed his ipod, my guess is that he ripped it out, but you need to be careful. I almost did this and wondered why it wouldn't release from the ipod. You have to squeeze the buttons on either side of the igo tip to remove it. This has no instructions, so I thought I'd fill you in on that info now.

I love the iGo system. It really works great.
This tip works great with my iPod classic, 1st generation iPhone ( before I sold it ) and now my current iPhone 3G wireless phone. I use it with the iGo home wall charger, car charger, and battery quick charger. It is a good system. Highly recommended !!!

Charges my ipad,

Works fine in charging my ipad. Don't know why iGo does not recommend this power tip for ipad. Have only used the charger when my ipad was not being used, possibly the iGo power adapter does not have enough power to both charge the battery and light the screen at the same time.

The Best iPhone Charger to Date,
By
This review is from: iGo Power Tip A61 6600661-04 - For select Apple iPod MP3 players (Personal Computers)
I have used this iGo Power Tip with original iPhone, 3G & 3GS and this iGo Tip combined with a regular iGo car charger is the best solution to charging your iPhone to date. Apple has not made a car charger so that job must go to Third party companies. I have tried other USB car chargers with little to no success as the iPhone continues to be upgraded. The only difference between this charger and the regular dock cable that comes with the iPhone is the iGo requires you to push in the sides in order to remove the cable as opposed to putting straight in and out with the original cable. This doesn't bother me too much, you just have to remember to do this each time so you don't harm the dock connector. The other big point in me purchasing this tip three times was the price. Compared to other iPhone chargers the price to put the tip and the charger together was nearly half of what others retail and the same tip has been used for all three versions of iPhone so far something other companies chargers have a hard time doing.

Doesn't seem to work with the iPod Classic,

I found an iGo Car Charger and A61 tip for half price at a store near where I live. I tested it out and it seemed to work alright. I recently got the wall charger for Christmas and tried to charge my iPod Classic (6th generation, 80GB) here in my dorm room now and it recognizes that something has been plugged in, but the charging symbol won't show up and it won't charge (leaving the tip plugged in even without the symbol).
I've been using the iGo wall charger mentioned previously for the last month charging my phone (A92 tip for LG) and it works perfectly, so that isn't the problem. Go with the A133 if you have any of the newer iPod models, it's what the iGo website suggests when you navigate through their website.

Best thing since white rice,
This review is from: iGo Power Tip A61 6600661-04 - For select Apple iPod MP3 players (Personal Computers)
This tip charges the ipad, ipad 2, and ipod touch 4g with the two cameras. Here's the specs for the ipad 2 charger: (Input 100-240V, 0.45Amps), 50-60Hz, (Output 5.1 Volts, 2.1 Amps, 10 Watts) Here's the specs for the iGo charger: (Input 100-240V, 0.3 Amps), 50-60 Hz, (Output 3.1-9 Volts, 1.5 Amps, 8Watts). The only difference I see is that the Amps and Watts are different, so in a pinch you can use the iGo charger, but it will charge just a bit slower than the Apple factory charger.

I bought this tip because the currently available tip will not charge an iPad. Emails to iGo resulted in moronic responses. Seems they think their bricks can charge a laptop computer but not an iPad.
Anyhow, this tip charges my iPad just fine.

This little change out IGO power tip makes my portable electronics gadgets more organized than ever before, I don't have to carry but one adaptor, and just change out tips. I'll probably get another for my husband. Thank you.
