4.0 out of 5 stars IH4 Alarm Clock for iPod nice with a couple of caveats
I bought this for my wife and haven't played with it too much but will pass on her comments. The unit is small and easy to use. Overall pleased with only two comments.
The volume is incremental and only adjusts from the unit itself and ignores any changes made on the iPod. The problem with this is that if you want to fall asleep to some 'gentle and soothing'...

2.0 out of 5 stars Many Poor Design Decisions
1) The iPod Mini will not connect as long as the adapter is installed. Instead, I need to remove the adapter and let it wobble there on the top. 2) There is no way to push the side buttons without first feeling for the correct button, then gripping the entire unit. Pressing the buttons without full grip only pushes the iH4 to the side.
3)Gives the impression that it...

The volume is incremental and only adjusts from the unit itself and ignores any changes made on the iPod. The problem with this is that if you want to fall asleep to some 'gentle and soothing' sounds/music the difference between no sound and the first step is too pronounced.
The only other item to note is that the dimmer also has steps and if you like your room very dark at night the lowest setting visible is just a bit too bright. However, you can completely turn the light off which is nice and all you have to do is hit a button to turn it on -- then step thru all the settings to turn it off...but that's not too bad.

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect match!, June 22, 2007

I got this as a way to listen to my 2g pink nano while going to sleep. I was amazed when I plugged it in in the kitchen and my husband thought the stereo was on all the way from the living room. The sound is amazing for this tiny piece of equipment. The sleep feature is great and the dimmer for the lights is cool too. The fact that it doesn't have a remote is annoying, but the remote is 15 bucks on ihome's site. Since this is a great ipod accessory I will definetly be getting the remote to boot. I just wish it also came in pink.

3)Gives the impression that it includes the remote, but doesn't.
4) The display is too bright and sports high intensity LEDs to add to the illumination.
5) Sleep (the best feature of iHome units) is a small button rather than a large bar like snooze.

4.0 out of 5 stars better volume control would give it 5 stars, September 6, 2007

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
i DO like this product. for the price, it's a great little product. i do wish that it had better volume control. even if you set both the clock AND your i-pod to the lowest volume, it's a little louder than what i would like. but it's not bad. i also like the fact that i have a docking station to charge my i-pod, instead of having to plug it in somewhere. very convenient. and i like the pink light too. what can i say, i'm a girl.

4.0 out of 5 stars what remote?, August 22, 2007

i'm very happy with this product. the only thing i am disappointed in is the fact that it makes it seem like the remote is included. it is not. you must purchase it for an additional fee. not a big deal, i mean, it's right next to my bed, i don't need a remote, and probably wouldn't actually use it. but the description implies that the remote is included. still, a decent product.

1.0 out of 5 stars Ipod Touch Users Beware!!, December 11, 2008
This review is from: iHome iH4 Alarm Clock Speaker System with Dock for iPod (Black) (Electronics)
I received an IH4 for my birthday with an Ipod Touch. When using the IH4 with an ipod touch there is a high level of static coming from the dock's speaker. I returned it to the store thinking something was wrong. I got a second one and have the same problem. I called I Home and the technician said that they are aware of the problem and there is nothing that they can do. Beware when purchasing if you have a touch!! This faulty dock is not worth the 50 dollars. If it wasn't a gift, i would most certainly demand my money back. I am never buying an I-home product again. It is pretty lame when a company recognizes a fault in the product and continues to sell it.

2.0 out of 5 stars Wear sunglasses at night, February 10, 2008
This review is from: iHome iH4 Alarm Clock Speaker System with Dock for iPod (Black) (Electronics)
Seemed like a good idea to wake up to my iPod. The problem was that the backlighting and sidebar lights on this clock are so bright that it practically lit up the whole room, even at its lowest setting. I had to put electrical tape over the sidebar lights to make it somewhat bearable at night. However, the backlighting of the digital time display was still too bright to leave on at night, so I turned that off. Problem is, if you wake up at night and want to see what time it is you have to hit a button to backlight the digital display and when I did I was practically blinded by the brightness. I returned it within a week.

4.0 out of 5 stars Doesn't come with 1st or 2nd Generation Nano insert, February 3, 2009
This cute little clock would have gotten 5 stars from me if it weren't for the fact that I had to order a 1st Generation Nano insert from the iHome audio website so my 7 year old daughter could safely dock her iPod on it.

The clock comes with 4 inserts:
thin iPod with video
thick iPod with video
3rd generation Nano
iPod Touch

If you have any other type of iPod, be prepared to spend six bucks plus shipping for the insert.

The clock itself is perfect for a young girl. We love the pink! The sound certainly isn't stereo quality, but how could you expect that from a clock anyway?

There is NO radio (but for us that's OK since we rarely listen to anything but our iPods) and it does NOT come with a remote. The box clearly states the OPTIONAL remote is available for purchase online.

The pink side lights are WAY COOL in the dark. The snooze button serves as a dimmer with high/medium/low settings, or as an off switch if you don't want any lights at all.

I had a little trouble setting the time at first, but then I read the directions (who would have ever thought of that?) and found it was simple to set.

I recommend this clock for the youngest generation of iPod users. :)

5.0 out of 5 stars A Must Buy, August 8, 2007
This review is from: iHome iH4 Alarm Clock Speaker System with Dock for iPod (Black) (Electronics)
My girlfriend bought this for her dorm in college and i loved it so much i ended up taking hers and buying her a new one. It is asthetically pleasing and the speakers have pretty impresive sound quality for an alarm clock.
