I thought the idea of having a keyboard with 2 USB ports was a pretty good one. It provides the 2 extra USB ports for added USB flexibility and it puts them right within your reach. The keyboard itself is fine, maybe a little noisy but I don't care about that. It is also rather durable. I've had mine for about 2 years and I have 3 kids. It is only now that my "V" key has come loose and a replacement is needed. I will be buying another!

Some cool features, but fatal flaws,

I got this keyboard from Woot to replace my worn out Logitech wireless. I like that it can take a couple USB wires away from the from of my desktop and I can stick the iPod Touch in the dock. My keyboard is on a keyboard tray that slides under the desk. But when I have the iPod touch docked I can't slide the tray in. It's ugly when I try it, out of habit.
The touch is good on the keyboard. On the number pad, it's terrible. Really, really terrible. Those keys have very little travel or tactile feedback. You need to mash them pretty hard. I can't imagine how that design ever went to production. Don't plan on using it for fast numerical data entry. Or for anything really. The other big flaw is that where most keyboards have extra wide Backspace and Enter keys, the K230MB cut them down by about a third and added a column of keys to the right for (top to bottom) Home, PgUp, PgDn, and End. The smaller Enter key is not giving me too much trouble, but when I go to hit Backspace I often hit Home instead, and then have to grab the mouse and move the cursor to recover. If you're a hunt and pecker the out of place Home key might not bother you so much. I'm rating this keyboard a 2 out of 5. |
