This is my second iHome, the first was a single dock that worked for about 6 months and then the volume and tuner knobs stopped working. Luckily we saved the remote or this would be in the trash. My new, 2 month old, iHome (dual dock) is still working, but two of the lit buttons do not light anymore (see the importance of this in next paragraph). Both units have decent sound quality and options. There are multiple alarms which are helpful.

As far as the design of the dual dock iHome goes, I wish iHome would figure out a few things. For one, the buttons are all flush with the body, so it is impossible to set, reset etc, the alarm without turning the lights on or upping the light control on the iHome (since the lit buttons aren't lighting anymore, bedroom lights must come on). Oh yeah that - when you press the snooze bar, the iHome lights toggle through the different brightness settings. This seems like a good idea, and it is totally necessary since even at the lowest setting it lights up my whole room. The bad part of this design is that to sleep, the iHome lights have to be off (unless you like a lit room) and because of that you can't read the time.

iHome must use the cheapest switches that they can find because both iHomes that I have had switch problems within a few months. they have the best sound for the price, as well as options. I wouldn't buy one without a waranty (include that in the purchase price for comparison).

so i was primarily looking for an alarm clock/charger for my ipod touch 3g. i came across this and discovered it did just that and more: its dual dock! so it charges my nano 4g as well. WIN. this is my first ihome and i am thoroughly impressed. the unit doesnt look or feel cheap at all. the sound is incredible; my dad heard it and thought it was one of the smaller bose speakers. the remote control is about as thick as the touch, as wide as the nano, and weighs about the same as the nano. which means i might lose the control soon if i dont pick up a habit of leaving it in the same place over and over again. the price may be a bit steep, but the dual dock makes up for it since most households have more than one ipod.

I've used several iHome products and I have to admit that this one is my favorite thus far. In terms of the functions I'm looking for, this is great. Personally, I dont like the remote as much - its a little longer than the previous version. However, I like the overall sound quality, the appearance and the overall function of this iHome.

Here's a short video of the iHome Dual Dock Alarm Clock radio/iPod player. We love the feature that lets you fall asleep to music. We've also found some nature sound mp3's that are great for falling asleep and work nicely with this unit. The Sound of Summer Rain is the sound of a summer rain with distant thunder that we really like. Another good one is Mountain Stream which is like camping next to a mountain stream with more than an hour of pure nature sounds, no music. There are also similar ones with ocean sounds and seagulls that are nice for sleeping.

Some of the controls can be a little confusing at first, but now that we've had the unit for a while it seems easy enough to use. It's nice to have the dual iPod docks because my husband and I each have our own playlists and music on our iPods and don't want to sync them together. It's easy to switch from one to the other with just a press of the button.

The sound is pretty good considering the size of the unit. We didn't expect it to sound like a 5 channel stereo but were still pretty impressed with the sound. It suits our purposes for an alarm clock and music player and we've been enjoying it for several months.

Sorry the video is a little jerky. After 4 tried this was the best of the bunch, so you can imagine what the others were like! I hope this gives you a better idea of what the unit looks like than just a photo. I tried capturing the sound with the video camera but it doesn't really sound anywhere near as good as the player, especially after uploading it here so I left most of that part out. Worked fine until warranty expired, then inexplicably stopped working when 6 months old. Way too expensive to break so easily. No power at all. Very disappointing.

Love the dual charge capability and sound quality. The clocks LED leaves a bit to be desired. It's brightness can be toned down about 6 levels, but even at the lowest level it's still to bright for me. But you can turn it off all together. The alarm clock capabilities are decent.
I have owned this for about 40 days and the ability to charge my Iphone/Ipods stopped working. Not sure why but I'm returning it to the Apple Store for replacement in the morning. I think this product could be much better, but I do still like it for the dual capability and sound quality.
Otherwise I wish there was more competition out there in this area.

This is exactly what I was looking for. The other dual dock speakers were not very attractive and the reviews weren't that great. I did a lot of research and decided to take the plunge with this speaker and am very glad I did.
In the past I never wanted an alarm clock speaker for my Ipod or Iphone because I do not like looking at the clock at night (its too bright and I can't sleep!) but my favorite feature on this unit is the snooze/dimmer button, which gives you different brightnesses for the screen, and also goes completely dark!
The sound is great for my bedroom (which is what I bought it for), I am sure for a larger room it would not be sufficient. All that said, I do not use the alarm function (because I use the one on my iphone already.)
Great speaker for the price and it looks really nice and streamline!

Great product--use with our two Iphone 4's. Nice look, good sound for size, charges both of our Iphone4's, and plays Podcast/Ipod music from phones. Real nice product and very simple to use. Good design, looks nice in house.

Woke up today to the alarm on my iPhone but the iP88 was dead. Troubleshot from the manual but no luck. No power on the adapter. No power with fresh backup batteries. Just stopped working. Not under warranty anymore but this shouldn't happen. No power surge or outage last night to have caused the problem.

That said, this is the best alarm clock I've ever owned and the fact that it charged both our iPhones at night was fantastic. I don't know if I'd spend up for another one though given the end result and the fact that someone else has had the same problem.

I use it everyday. I love the fact I can charge my iPod and iPhone at the same time. The doc 2 volume control doesn't work on the system but on the remote. I think that is some kind of defect. Other than that it works fine.
