4.0 out of 5 stars Bluetooth works great
Functions great. Bought it for the Bluetooth function to connect to my phone for music and calls. Sound quality isn't the like a concert system, not very loud, sounds somewhat flat, highs and base are not impressive. But I can connect to my phone and start playing music with 2 buttons. If a call comes in, the iHC5S will display the call and mute the music...

3.0 out of 5 stars Great sound, worst alarm clock
This is by far the best sounding alarm clock I've ever had, but if you're looking for an alarm clock, this is really not for you.

It's more of a sound system with the bluetooth thing for your phone. I love hooking my ipod up to it too.

It's not very user friendly though especially when you wake up to what sounds like a freaking bomb getting ready...

This is by far the best sounding alarm clock I've ever had, but if you're looking for an alarm clock, this is really not for you.

It's more of a sound system with the bluetooth thing for your phone. I love hooking my ipod up to it too.

It's not very user friendly though especially when you wake up to what sounds like a freaking bomb getting ready to explode and can't find the right button to hit to save your life since none of the dang buttons light up. It's a bummer that you either have to wake up to the radio or the buzzer (or time bomb as I like to call it) since you can't leave your ipod or cellphone on all right waiting to wake you up.

I'd rather have a CD player alarm clock...

Love the sound, absolutely hate the alarm clock.

One last thing, should keep the cell couple of feet from the unit as it is not shielded from the phone signal waves.

I saw this item come up on [...] - I was looking for a speaker for my kitchen. The pairing to my iphone and the ability to receive calls through the system works great. The alarm clock portion is not that good. For [...] no tax and free ship. I recommend it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Yes, it's worth it., June 17, 2010

I read and re-read the reviews for this product and bought it in spite of what some said. I am really glad I have this unit!
The Pros
THE PHONE: This works great with my blue tooth technology. The speakers are terrific on incoming calls and the people I spoke with said they could hear me well.
MP3: I have verizon, NOT ipod, and it works very well, again, awesome speakers, my phone has never sounded so good. There is a 3.5mm input that I plug in to my phone where I keep all my music.

ALARM CLOCK: I have set both alarms 1 and 2, and both work fine. I read that some people had trouble with the alarm clock. 1.) it is NOT too loud. It's a "gradual on" but does not seem to get any louder than the volume I have it set at. Good radio reception, and the mp3 wakeup is fine too.
2.) it seems that if one were to read the directions well enough, one would not have a problem with turning the alarm on or off. The snooze button is right on top! not difficult to find. Also, there is another alarm reset button that will automatically set it for the next day, that is pretty handy. Alarm 2 is for the buzzer only, I have yet to hear a "freaking bomb going off" unless if you don't have the radio station programmed properly....

REMOTE-- AWESOME! you can turn the alarm off, dial someone to call, change radio station, holy cow. it's great.

SETTINGS-- again, if you read the directions, you won't have a problem. The directions are in english and easy to understand.

con's-- don't really have any except the 3 AA batteries included were dead and I had to replace them right in the beginning.

Overall, this product is far more than what I expected. that could be because I have endured "bronze age" technology for so long with my previous clock, but I'm very happy with this one.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great multi purpose solution!, March 27, 2011

I have had this model for more than a year now and I absolutely love this thing! It has two different alarm options radio alarm or buzz alarm. The speakers have a really great sound and you can definitely use it as a small radio stereo system. There are 8FM presets and 4AM presets. What gives it really the distinction to other alarm clock radio's is it's Bluetooth capability. You can really connect almost anything bluetooth. You can pair your cell phone with BT (not just an Iphone)and use it as an MP3 player or use the system as a speaker for your phone, it even has a dialing pad, so you can leave your phone in the independent stand to make and receive calls. My favorite use though is a BT speaker for my computer. I watch TV shows from my computer and it sounds like on a regular TV. I stream music from my computer and it sounds like a stereo system. I control everything with it's remote (that includes the phone function).
You got to take your time to read the manual though, to set up it's features properly, without that you might not figure out how to use it properly.Great little system!

2.0 out of 5 stars A Total Disappointment..., December 28, 2009

This review is from: iHome iHC5 Wireless Bluetooth Clock Radio for Cell Phones, iPods, and MP3 Players (Silver) (Electronics)
First of all, I have nothing but praise for the iHome brand but this product is a major disappointment. I mislead myself in thinking that the iHome brand, the features of the product, along with the 75% off the regular price equated to a great deal, but I was wrong. The quality is of a $30 unit. You are not getting a bargain. You are getting $30 worth. This unit does too many things and all of them poorly. The sound system sounds like a desktop alarm clock. It is not practical to set the alarm to your ipod or BT device as it has to be on and playing music when the alarm goes off. You are better off getting something more specialized to your need. The last item is a thoughtless annoyance... a large paper sticker located on the speaker grill that will take you 30 minutes and a bottle of glue remover to carefully remove the paper backing that is left after you remove it. I am not sure about the general reliability but I bought 2 of them (1 for gift giving purposes) thinking it was a great deal. The first unit was defective as it would freeze every few hours requiring you to setup all your settings all over again... the second one will be going back to Amazon as I cannot gift it with all those shortcomings.

3.0 out of 5 stars Annoying .... out of the box, December 30, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: iHome iHC5 Wireless Bluetooth Clock Radio for Cell Phones, iPods, and MP3 Players (Silver) (Electronics)
Pro's:
OK as a nightstand, bluetooth speaker. Pairs with my Nokia N82, but it has problems with dropouts with my laptop's bluetooth. I don't know if this is issue with speaker or laptop.

Con's:
- Glue and paper from the sticker on the grill. The paper becomes embedded in the little holes in the grill. Do I need this kind of annoyance right oit of the box?
- Really poor quality AM/FM radio. This becomes important because as others have mentioned, it is unrealistic to leave your bluetooth music sourse powerd and playing all night, just to wake to bluetooth music in the morning.
- Poor key layout. The keys are all rectangular with no tactile surface, so they are difficult to find in the dark. You have to memorize the layout, but then you still have to search/feel for the ksys.
- Functions/keys are not intuitive. You will have to dig out the manual.
- High pitched alarm does not do a good job of waking those of us that are aging and losing the upper part of our hearing spectrum.

It is worth thirty bucks, maybe, but not a penny more.

3.0 out of 5 stars Nice alarm clock..., March 30, 2009

This device works great as an alarm clock. The bluetooth functionality isn't that great though. It's a nice dock for my phone to listen to the music on it, but no one I talked to using the phone features could hear me clearly and made me switch the phone over to the handset. But for what I paid, I'm actually happy with it, just using the functions that work well.

I was looking for a A2DP bluetooth speaker for my iphone so I didn't have to be docking it. I was almost quitting my search when I found this equipment. I paid almost one third of the original price so I was somewhat concerned about the quality or the compatibility of the same with my devices. Anyway I decided to give it a try and return it if not satisfied with it. Well, all I can say is that I am completely satisfied with my purchased. I own an iphone, an ipad, and a samsung galaxy tab, and all of them work excellent with this equipment. It also have the capacity to answer calls via bluetooth connection.

This is my very first review for any product. This is a very good product for the price tag, below 30$. It has working blue tooth, alarm, clock, radio, decent speaker.

1. Bluetooth - I can connect my I-Pod, Cellphone.
2. Radio - It workscc
3. Speaker - Sounds very good for the price
4. Alarm - It easy to set after reading user manual.
