Play your music, in any room, wirelessly. With a slick, minimal design, iHome's iW1 is an elegant implementation of Apple's AirPlay technology. Stream your music from AirPlay sources--iTunes, iPod touch, iPhone, and iPad--anywhere you have a home Wi-Fi network. Enjoy remote control of your streaming playback, and digital processing from Bongiovi for uncompromising sound. You can also charge and playback your Apple device via USB, or connect nearly any audio player via an auxiliary input.
Stream wireless music directly to the iW1 via iTunes, iPad, iPhone, and iPod touch. AirPlay is a built-in feature in Apple devices that lets users stream audio wirelessly, wherever there is a Wi-Fi network.
Note: For AirPlay, the iW1 must be connected to Wi-Fi with networked access to a Mac or PC running iTunes 10.1 or later; or an iPad, iPhone, or iPod touch running iOS 4.2 or later.
Device in the other room? No problem, the iW1 supports play/pause, next track, previous track, and volume control of iPad, iPhone, iPod touch, and iTunes music playback from the speaker control panels, as well as the included IR remote.
The iW1 is a breeze to get working, with a simple network setup and custom device naming. Just grab iHome Connect, a free app available on the App Store for iPad, iPhone, and iPod touch. Launch the app, connect via USB, and follow simple on-screen menus to configure Wi-Fi. You'll be enjoying AirPlay a few minutes after un-boxing.
The iW1 is certified for 802.11b and 802.11g Wi-Fi Technologies. The "Wi-Fi CERTIFIED" logo assures the Wi-Fi Alliance has tested a product in numerous configurations and with a diverse sampling of other devices, to ensure compatibility with Wi-Fi CERTIFIED equipment that operates in the same frequency band.
For iPods that aren't Wi-Fi enabled, or when you want to keep a full charge while enjoying your music, a USB port is provided. Connect your iPod/iPhone using the included USB sync cable (or any iPod USB sync cable) for charging and audio playback. The USB connection also enables music playback from iPad.
You can also connect almost any music device using the analog 3.5mm stereo auxiliary input: CD players, MP3 players, etc.
Real-time digital signal processing extends the iW1's audio bandwidth, adding missing harmonics without adding peak output to the signal. It effectively improves brightness, clarity, and presence, delivering deep, resonant bass and crystal-clear highs.
You can dial in the EQ a little further with basic Bass and Treble controls.
A rechargeable battery with charging base and carrying handle makes the iW1 ideal for use anywhere at home, indoors and out.
The switching power supply works just about anywhere in the world to power your unit.
Pair the iW1 with iHome's iOS apps (available from the iTunes App Store) for an even more versatile experience:
iW1 Speaker, Charging Base, Power Adaptor, USB Sync Cable, Remote Control, Documentation
Most of times I am able to have iW1 connected to the network correctly and my Iphone 4 recognizes it as a Airplay Device.
That has not been my experience with other products, but perhaps that is why Bose designed their wireless speaker around Bluetooth instead of AirPlay.
Even if they had the firmware problems figured out, I wouldn't buy it again just because customer support was so unprofessional and ineffective.
I've had this for a few years. In theory it would be fine with nice sound, design, battery life, etc. The problem is that the airplay connection is incredibly unreliable. Read morePublished 7 days ago by Padriac
Sorry iHome, I've wanted your products since they came out. You need to hire better engineers to bring your beautiful designs up to the build quality they are housed in. Read morePublished 11 days ago by SeanReynoldsCS
Love the sound, versatility and portable feature. Although someone of my vintage could use more clear instructions for setup. Read morePublished 15 days ago by D. Miller
It constantly drops connection with the network and is real pain to reconnect. I basically don't use it any more. Was also unimpressed with the battery life length. Read morePublished 27 days ago by Richard T. Schadle
good sound quality. it does not maintain a solid wifi connection even where the signal is very very strong. Read morePublished 1 month ago by Edye McCaffrey
Just say no...
I purchased this from Best Buy for $49, and frankly it's not worth the time I spent wrapping it. Read more
Sadly, this is a piece of garbage. You have to broadcast your network name (SSID) in order for the iW1 to connect. Then, once it's connected, the connection is not stable. Read morePublished 2 months ago by D. Cheatham
This product is even worse than I imagined after reading the reviews. It was on sale for $49.99, so I took a chance despite the poor ratings. The setup is ridiculous. Read morePublished 2 months ago by Jason Donovan
