1.0 out of 5 stars Useless Advice at Best, April 17, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: iJobless: 50 ways to Survive Unemployment (Paperback)
Aside from having easy-to-read big type (probably to allow only a small number of words per page), anyone watching every penny can begin by not wasting money on this book. Some of the advice is obvious, some is inaccurate, and the few things that might be of help do not provide the detail needed to implement them without further research. One example of each:

Obvious: Does anyone need to be told to make their own coffee, rather than buy it at a fancy shop every day?

Inaccurate: She advises you to get rid of your clothes, in favor of blue jeans, leaving one interview outfit. Really? What will you wear on the first, second, or third day of the new job when you get it?

Lack of detail: She advises individuals to use targeted job sites in addition to the normal ones. She says Google can find them all. Would it be so hard to give a few sample query keywords to show to how find them?

The book may be 126 pages, but the pages of real content average at about 100 words per page, there are lots of blank pages, and the last 10 pages are blank gratitude journal forms. I was hoping maybe helpful resources would be at the end, but no such luck. If you're really curious, see if the library carries it. But if money is already tight, use it to buy a more helpful book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Smart and insightful!, January 16, 2009
The author, Jenny Holmes, hits the concept of being unemployed on the head. This book not only offers unique ways to stay on your feet during a stint of unemployment, but some of her tips are even benifical for those who are still employed and just want to save some money during this economic recession! iJobless is easy and entertaining to read. I would recommend it to anyone! This book is also a great motivational tool to help yourself get on the right track to finding a new job and becoming iEmployed!

4.0 out of 5 stars learning and laughing, January 8, 2009
I loved this book! It has some helpful tips, but it also made me laugh. I've recently been jobless and I wish I had read it before I went through that experience. ijobless helps you not feel so bad about your situation. It inspired me to get busy each day, to do something to move toward a new goal and to be a better person.
