The speakers work fine for an office, when they work. My first unit burned out after about 1 month (smell of melted plastic, volume control no longer works with the setting stuck at the loudest level). The unit was promptly replaced under warranty (90-day). The second unit only lasted about 1 week before the same thing happened. (I'm using the speakers with an iPOD mini and have the unit plugged into a surge protector.) At this point, shipping costs for warranty replacement have totaled more than 1/2 the unit cost.

This is perfect for using my iPod in the office (and it charges it while I'm listening which I love). Decent quality sound for the price. I have been very happy with it until this week (almost 3 months after receiving it) when the remote stopped working properly. Everything works except the Play/Pause button (which also turns the power off and on). So now I have to move it so that it's within arm's reach in order to pause it when necessary. That's very annoying and makes the remote almost useless. I am very disappointed at that. I thought it might be the battery but I just replaced it and it didn't help.

EDITED TO ADD: I contacted the company to express my unhappiness with the faulty remote and they sent me another remote at no charge. So I must say they have good customer service, and I am happy that I have one that works now.

EDITED AGAIN TO ADD: Oh the new remote doesn't work very well. Sometimes it works to pause or turn off and on. Most of the time only the volume works. So much for that.

Volume control stopped working the morning after we unpacked it. Now it works only on high, with lots of static. I wasn't expecting much sound quality at this price point, but this product is ridiculously shoddy.

The product was what I expected. It was slim and sounded good.I would recommend this to any one with an IPod. The shipping was quick and received in good condition.

The same thing happened to me as it did other people, right when I took it out of the box, the volume buttons wouldn't work. It was stuck on a really loud volume and wouldn't go down no matter what. I'm going to have to take it back, and I probably won't get it again, I'll get something else.

This product worked great for 3 months then it got zapped and the volume controls no longer worked. Even when I turned my iPod nano volume off the music was blaring.

Look for something else.

I did read a few reviews and noted the ones that described problems with the remote and controls on the unit....but was swayed by the many glowing reviews and the overall positive rating.

I buy alot from Amazon and this unit was far and away the biggest piece of junk I've ever had. "Buyer Beware" and "You Get What You Pay For" come to mind here. The unit is sharp looking, with a cool blue light behind the ipod, my 30 GB model fit perfectly.

The first day I brought it to my office and used it as soft background music, no problems. I thought I really got away with a terrific product at a good price. The very next day, however, I couldn't lower the volume with the remote. I then tried to use the main controls to lower the volume. When that failed, I tried to turn the unit off. I was dismayed to find that the big power button on the unit didn't work. After I unplugged the ipod, unplugged the unit, and then put it all back together, the only sound I could get from the unit was a faint buzzing noise. The blue light was still working, but it's not that cool. There are some obvious quality control issues here, and I'm returning this product and will ensure that I go with a name brand product. I'm sure I'll have to spend double, but some things can't be bought, like satisfaction.

Bought this as a Christmas gift for my 16 year old daughter so she could listen to her IPod via the speakers. It looks great, but she was unable to raise/lower the volume either by the remote or by using the controls directly on the speaker unit itself. When the IPod was placed in the docking station it came out so low that she could hardly hear it. Nothing she did could adjust the audio level.
Just in case there was an issue with her IPod we had a friend of hers bring her IPod over and the results were the same.
The best part of this item was Amazon's return policy. No hassle or fuss and she's looking at another system to use her IPod with.

I bought this item when it was marked 50% off at the mall - thank goodness I didn't pay full price. I should have taken it back as soon as I pulled it out of the box. One of the rubber pads on the bottom was missing. But I kept it because there were no more at the store. It played OK for about a month - then the darn thing woke me up at night with a strange humming noise. It was plugged in but turned off. Now I have to keep it unplugged when I am not using it because the humm is getting worse. The remote only works some of the time. The whole thing is cheaply made. It plays OK and the sound is fine when you are playing music, but it is not built to last.

I like that this unit keeps the iPod charged for grab-and-go convenience.

If you like to ROCK OUT (w0o0o0o0!), this isn't the unit you want. The drivers distort at sound levels required for a good mosh. I wouldn't recommend it for keggers on the deck either.

But if you need a unit for the kitchen or while you're getting ready in the morning, this thing does a fine job. At conversation volumes, the sound is defined and respectable.

I love being able to change songs from across the room with the remote while I'm making dinner.

And if a friend brings over an MP3 player, you can plug it into the back with the included cable and listen to music as well.

I don't use it, but if you have a video iPod this thing also has a video out RCA connector so you can watch video on a larger external TV.

The thing looks snazzy, too.
