Save your money,

I have had good results in the past with iLive products but this is a dud. I purchased 2 for my kids to use as "speakers" in their rooms for their iPod Touch. The good part is that they fit nice and securely in the product. The bad.... STATIC. The radio was mediocre quality, but to be fair, it is an am/fm radio, not a stereo. I could have lived with everything except the static on the iPod "channel". The only way to reduce the static is to crank the volume. My son tried to listen to it at night, and when the volume is low, it is horrible reception. Even when the iPod is off, and the unit is powered on and set to "iPod" there is static. They are on there way back. I was hopeful that it would work well enough, but alas, static killed the purchase. I would look elsewhere. Both of the units I got created the same static problem...

This does everything just-so. It is very easy to set up and use, and I also play my portable XM unit through it. However the sound quality is barely average at this price point. Don't expect any noticeable bass, and forget about using it at any volumes above average. Overall it does okay in a small to medium room.

This is a nice radio that worked perfectly with my ipod touch.
However, I was also looking for a radio with good FM reception. The FM reception was so so and I ended up returning it. If the FM reception had of been slightly better I would've kept it and given it 5 stars, especially for the price.

For the price, this is an outstanding radio/docking station, and very compact. It allows you to plug in accessories (CD player, headphones) and does everything I expected it to do. I bought it for my kitchen. When I'm cooking I like to have tunes to keep me company. The sound quality it not great at higher volume, lacking the bass response, but at this price point I don't expect amazing sound. This is a nice product, and I recommend it.

Ho Hummmmmmmmmm,

Connected fine, buttons worked, sound during playback was OK for a small room, even got FM reception in a concrete building. But the HUM and the HISS were unbearable. If the iPod was not connected, no problem. But as soon as I docked my iPod Touch, on came the hum and the hiss. The hiss was always there whether the iPod was on or off, and the hum was intermittent, made much worse if the "bass" switch was on. I tried it with and without the iPod case, with the little plastic docking insert and without, no difference. Just an annoying hiss and hum all the fricking time. Back it goes. At least I bought it from a physical store so I don't have to pay anything to ship it back.

Received this as a christmas present and it was returned today. The sound was not very good, had issue with the power cord as well. Spend the extra money on a good one.

The Ipod portion of this device works fine. Decent sound, easy to use and portable. However, the radio portion of the device blows. Radio won't hold a channel. Tune it to 98.1 today. Power it up tomorrow and it's at 98.3. What gives? In addition, plan on waiting a minute or two after you have powered up the device before you can change/adjust channels. For some unknown reason the tuner has to scan the entire radio dial before it settles in on the station it was set at. Another, what gives?
Okay if you need something for the garage or on your desk at work, but a primary listening device it ain't.

this product stinks thats why it is so cheap first off there is no clock or alarm clock built in so you would have to use your ipod for that which is not that bad but what stinks is the radio it is staticy and you can tell that they just put in the cheapest one they could find and last is the speakers they suck great sound but at night you have to turn it on for an alarm clock it makes the sound of them being on and will drive you crazy so overall i would not buy this and invest in a better one. I give it a big fat 0

I got this looking forward to playing my ipod touch 4th generation. First, it didn't say in the paperwork if it was able to play, I never found out. The AC power cord also kept falling out and you had to hold it in, in order for it to turn on. My 1.5 pound kitten was easily able to knock it out.

Good for the Money,
This review is from: iLive iB209 Portable Speaker System for iPod with AM/FM Radio (Black) (Electronics)
I got this docking station as a gift for Christmas. I have been laid up with 2 broken legs and one leg needed another surgery. During this time, I was using my iPod at night during the rough sleepless times. I donated a lot of money to iTunes during this time, so when I could just dock my iPod and not have to wear headphones, it was great! So for being able to play my iPod content here at bedside, it works very well for me. I will probably also take this compact unit into the camper this summer and try it there! The sound is reasonable give the size of the unit...IMHO. I use/love a 120GB iPod Classic.
