Got a pair of headphones you already love, but wish you had iPod controls? Rather than buying new phones, this in-line remote lets you add music control for Apple devices.

Control apple devices without replacing your headphones. Click to enlarge.

Works With Any Standard Headphones
iPod users can attach the iEA15 remote adapter to any pair of headphones with a standard 3.5mm plug, without sacrificing sound quality.

Control Your Music
Just like the Apple headphones included with most iPods, these will let you control volume, play/pause, next track, and previous track. Equipped with a remote chip provided by Apple, it'll work with most iPod models.

Works With Mac Computers
Mac's computers also allow you to use headphone remotes. This device is compatible with the following models:

MacBook (13.3-inch, Late 2009), MacBook Pro (15-inch, Early 2008), MacBook Pro (17-inch, Early 2009), MacBook Pro (17-inch, Late 2008), Mac Pro (Early 2009), iMac (24-inch, Early 2009), iMac (20-inch, Early 2009), and current models.

The iEA15 also lets you control iTunes on your iPad.

VoiceOver
The iEA15 also supports the VoiceOver feature on the iPod shuffle 3rd generation (the 4th generation model has a dedicated button). Press and hold the center button to hear the title and artist playing or to switch playlists.

What's in the Box
iLuv iEA15, User Manual

Product Description

With the iEA15BLK from iLuv, you can control your iPod and iPhone no matter what headphones you are using. This in-line remote lets you adjust the volume, play, pause, or change the track. You can even hold the center button to use the “Voice Over” feature for your iPod shuffle 3G, and a voice will identify which track or playlist is currently playing.

1.0 out of 5 stars Wire frays and eventually stops working January 4, 2010
Color Name:Black
Great idea, but flawed design. The insulation on the cable closest to the input plug cracked in less that a couple of weeks exposing the copper and rendering the device useless. This part of the adapter tends to bend frequently and there is not sufficient insulation on the cable to prevent cracking. I can not recommend this device with its current design.

4.0 out of 5 stars it does the job! November 29, 2009
By Alex V.
Color Name:Black|Amazon Verified Purchase
What job? To get rid of those awful and poor sound Apple factory headphones and to control either your iPod shuffle (latest version) or the iPod touch.

I just used them on a 5 hour flight, they were great since I could use my noise cancelling headphones.

The adapter looks well made, nice color (black), but the only thing that I did not rate it 5 stars is because you may get confused when turning up or down the volume with the center click, so you may get "pausing" your music instead of changing the volume. An another thing, since they're black, you will have a little of a hard time guessing if you're going to push the up or down volume button.

But I love this adapter for sure.

1.0 out of 5 stars DOA, crappy manufacturing - 0 stars January 12, 2010
Color Name:Black|Amazon Verified Purchase
Sadly, Amazon does not allow 0 star reviews.
Just received this adapter and it's DOA.
No matter what I tried, I couldn't get sound through any headphones I connected.
I read all those reviews about the crappy manufacturing, and chose to ignore them. "Hey, it's just a cable", I thought.
Wrong. This cable looks like it cost 3 cents to put together and you get what you pay for.
Will get my money back from Amazon, but will have to use the standard Apple headphones ("crappy" seems to be the theme for this post) for my upcoming trip.
Stay away.

1.0 out of 5 stars Great while it lasted June 5, 2010
Color Name:Black|Amazon Verified Purchase
The design of this product is great.

However, the volume buttons on my remote stopped working after less than two weeks. There was no rough handling at all. The remote stayed connected to my iPod which stayed in my car the entire time.

1.0 out of 5 stars Just wanted something simple... February 22, 2010
By L. Rees

And this P.O.S. couldn't deliver. Took it out of the box, plugged it in and... nothing. Didn't work whatsoever. I read the reviews before I purchased it and knew some people had issues, but didn't think it could be THAT bad. Well, false. Take heed: this product will either NOT last or NOT work from the start.

1.0 out of 5 stars Didn't last December 18, 2009

I can only guess that the reason that these are so inexpensive is that they are not well made. I started having problems within a week.

3.0 out of 5 stars Lasted longer than expected while snow skiing April 1, 2011
By jaime
Color Name:Black|Amazon Verified Purchase
I got this inline remote to control my ipod while snow skiing. I keep my ipod in my pocket and loop the inline remote around a hood loop outside my jacket then use a 3.5mm male to male connector to plug it into my helmet.

I have been super hard on this product unplugging by yanking on the wire (2-3 times per day), snow/wind storms, tree branches pulling on it, everyday use for the last 45days. I frequently skip tracks and go backwards, volume up and down constantly. I pretty much expected this thing to die in a matter of days like most products. I did initially tape up all the connecting points before ever using the product, which may have extended the life and added some waterproof capability to the unit.

It did finally die yesterday with the classic crackle in one ear then finally mono sound. Definitely a solid product for how much I abused it. I got tired of the skullcandy remotes constantly breaking. (would get anywhere from 1 day to 2 weeks with them.) I will order another until a more bomb proof product is available. The inline of the remote must be plugged into the ipod directly for the remote to function. I tried plugging it in backwards as that would be more convenient for helmet wearing. The length of the cord coming from the ipod is very short and barely makes it to the lower collar of my jacket.

For 6$ I'd say it's worth a try, as no other viable options are available at this time.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great iPhone/iPod Control May 17, 2012
Color Name:Black|Amazon Verified Purchase
I bought this after reviewing all similar products in the market, although the balanced -ve vs + reviews, I decided to buy it to use with my Bose QuietComfort 3 Noise Canceling Headphones, here are my honest opinion:

Pros:
- Very cheap, I got it shipped to my mailbox @ $5.80, that's a very low price
- Cord is so small so when use it will not add to your speaker cable length (this drives me crazy if un-necessary long)
- Build quality is OK @ this price point
- Easy Navigation like the Original Apple Control
- No degradation of sound quality
- Available in 2 colors Black and White

Cons:
- Build quality is OK, but you should handle with extreme care if you want it to last with you for some time

Conclusion: I also use it with the Klipsch 10 headphones and its awesome, I saved tons of money by avoid buying any integrated iPod control headphones, very convenient for the long travels. I rate it 5 because other products is ugly/bulky/expensive etc.

Maybe mine is defective, but the only thing it does is control volume. The middle button does not paause/play, but activates Siri, very annoying.
