The enclosure is very small. Made of plastic with a metal inside liner. The hard drive has to be placed at an angle and pushed in. It works well with my 1TB WD drive. The enclosure is too small and the locking tabs will not connect so the lid will not shut tight. I used masking tape to hold the lid closed. Mine came without screws so I used spare HD screws to keep the drive in place.
The led indicator points straight upwards where there is a small hole on top of the lid where the LED goes.
The one thing I disliked was that there is no on/off button.

The case did not snap together properly. You would think it should. I had another person see if they could assemble it so wasn't just me. One Side has a bit of a gap because of this default.

It does what I've needed it to. Worked for months now, it's a cheap plastic (not what I recall seeing in the picture), and it's very hard to get opened and closed. But, once you've got your drive in there, it works. I've been using it as a media server connected to the back of my AirPort Extreme, and all the cords and everything have held up. Despite not being what I expected, totally, it's performed well and I could recommend it.

This case works and does what it is supposed to do. However, the one thing that it doesn't do prevented me from using for what I wanted it for.

It does not power up unless it is plugged into the USB port. When you plug it into the wall it will not power on until the USB cable receives power.

This is fine for a normal computer, but I was planning to connect this enclosure as an expansion to NAS (Network Attached Storage) device. However, my NAS requires the drive to be powered up prior to boot. So it will not recognize this case. Luckily I had another case that I use for travel and was able to swap them.

You should check and make sure your usage of the case does not require it to be powered up prior to being recognized.

The top portion of the case would not fit onto the bottom portion. I had to eventually cut off all of the tabs which are supposed to snap to the bottom and glue the thing together instead. I gave it two stars because at least it works when plugged into the computer...

Out of the package this item already had something rattling around inside. I still hooked it up and it does NOT easily accept the very common standard 3-1/2" hard drive very easily. Getting it in made me very nervous about possibly damaging the sata connections on my hard drive. What's worse was that the enclosure has to be forced with great pressure in order to get it to snap together. However it's cheap and it's plastic so you can't force to hard or of course you'll break the casing. Which by the way has very little to offer as far as breathing goes to prevent a hard disk drive from over heating. Very disappointed and the moment I finally got it to snap together I very nervously unsnapped the casing to remove my hard drive very carefully and irritatingly to put this piece of garbage in a box and slap a return label on it. Sorry to the seller for this review but I wish someone had written honest review for me to have read to save me the trouble. The package did arrive on time though I should add.

Got this product to help my mother migrate hard drives. The functional setup is about as simple and effective as it could possibly be, so that's great. However, I then set it up as a permanent fixture for an automatic backup. If you're planning on keeping the case closed, it is extremely difficult to put the top on. It's not quite the right shape and there's an LED that you either need to carefully align or just leave inside the case and let it look bad. I eventually managed to make it look acceptable, but I'm good at these kind of things and it took much longer than it should have. However, for functionality it's been working perfectly for a couple months now. If you want something pretty, odds are you'll be looking at more expensive enclosures anyways.

I've gotten two of these now and both have worked great. The only issue that I have to warn potential buyers about is the top part of the case. The case that holds your HDD comes in two pieces, a bottom which your HDD screws into and a top that snaps on once everything is inside, the top piece however does not line up well and unless you have really strong arms and hands you will not be able to snap it together. This was not a problem for me, but for other it may be a deal breaker. Other than that small hitch the enclosure is perfect and I highly recommend it. I bought my first one of these over a year ago and it is still going strong!
