The IPAD is an elegant device. It is pleasant to use. However, for some reason, the manufacturers didn't think about the fact that it is easy to steal. (Some cynical individual might say that this was not an oversight; but I do not know.) Therefore, after purchasing an IPAD for my eighty-five year old mother, I was concerned that someone might steal it.
Just today, I received the "iPad Lock and Security Case Bundle Combination."
I am very dissatisfied.
Every bit as elegant as the IPAD itself is, that's how clunky and inelegant is the Lock and Security Case.
The holes on the top of the case do not line up with the buttons for turning on/off the device or for adjusting the volume--and the plastic case itself creates enough distance from the buttons that you cannot use your fingers to press them!
In other words, the engineering of the case is clunky, or poor. Wit the case attached, it won't be possible to adjust volume or turn the device on/off with my fingers alone. I will have to find a tool of some sort to poke into the holes in the plastic case. And, to do that is, once again, to destroy the simplicity of the original design.
It will be necessary to remove the case whenever we want to use the IPad. That is really an enormous nuisance which destroys the very feature which made the IPad attractive in the first place--convenience.
Moreover, the so-called screen protector has many air bubbles, again destroying the original beauty of the design.
The product I ordered was supposed to come with two keys, and it says on the box that there are two keys.
But, instead, we've got something with a number combination--rather like a bicycle lock.
Despite all of these problems, and despite the inferior design and quality of the product, I shall keep it only because the IPad is easy to steal.
Both the manufacturers of the IPad and the manufacturer of this Security Case deserve no praise, but only criticism for this. I am very, very unhappy.
The security case is not cheap. Given the low quality, it is outrageously overpriced. If the manufacturer had any self-respect they would have attempted to create a security device of equal elegance to the IPad. They have not. Rather, they have created something which distracts in every possible way from the convenience and elegance of the IPad itself.
