1.0 out of 5 stars Don't be mislead by the title January 28, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This book promises to explain how to develop and sell your e-book for the iPad market. Instead it tries to sell some sort of service called FastPencil. Simple as that. If you are interested and want to learn about their service, buy the book. If you want to learn how to make and sell books to iPad users, move on to something else.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good Read on Self-Publishing March 9, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This book does contain some useful information on self-publishing, but I was a bit disappointed as I was looking for information on actually publishing for the iPad. That was not what this book was about! This book is mainly about promoting If you use them to publish and use their paid distribution service your book will be included in the Apple store.

That being said though, I am fascinated by their writing model. I will be signing up for a free account and trying out writing with their setup. They also promise to solve lot of the formatting problems that plague so many self-publishers. Will I pay for distribution thru them? Probably not. I can see them being a great all-in-one service for some authors. But my current main avenues of publishing (Kindle and CreateSpace) are free and I don't have to give them a cut of the royalties I already enjoy.

I was actually looking for a primer on "best practices" for formatting documents to be viewed on iPads. No joy.

5.0 out of 5 stars The first book on the topic! July 2, 2010
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I've been typing, "ipad publishing," "how to publish on the ipad," etc., into the search box since the iPad was released in April. This is the first book, published on 27th June (got the Kindle version on 30th June).

The book lays out the process for publishing on the iPad in very clear steps, in simple language - the absence of expected jargon is such a relief.

Besides the valuable insider information (the author is the founder of FastPencil, a self-publishing company) what I liked most about the book is that for every step, the author offers two of the best choices and then, he goes on to not only recommend one of them but explains why he himself chose it in his writing projects.

I read the book in one sitting because I couldn't put it down except once for a few minutes for signing up with FastPencil, following the author on Twitter and adding him as a friend on Facebook!

Thanks to the book, it led me to [...], a revolutionary self-publishing company that takes your book from idea to completion and beyond!

I hate to download a book to find out I have been duped into reading a big ad for a software package and author services

3.0 out of 5 stars A good read May 11, 2014

It is interesting how our world has changed now that self publishers have a shot at writing the book inside them. It is somewhat obvious that it was made to sell their website product, but still, I was happy to find out these new tools and options.
