I was so excited to get the iPad smart cover for my new iPad 2!! My dad has one for his iPad 2 and I think it's a great cover!! I love amazon and I order stuff fom this website all the time; so naturally, this was the first place I went to get my smart cover because I didn't want to drive for an hour to get one from the Apple store. When the cover arrived I opened it and put it on my iPad to try it out but something seemed wrong about it and I couldn't quite put my finger on it. The magnetic strip that holds it to the iPad seemed kind of weak and the feel of the front and the back of the cover seemed a little different from my dad's smart cover. Sure enough, after comparing it side by side with my dad's smart cover it was obvious that the "iPad smart cover" that I had just ordered was definitely a fake!! The magnetic strip is significantly weaker than the real smart cover and the texture of the material on the front and back of the cover is different as well. There is a very soft and fuzzy material on the bottom of the real smart cover so that it protects the front of the iPad and doesn't scratch it. However, the material on the bottom of the fake smart cover is obviously a cheaper, lower-grade version of the stuff on the real cover and I have no doubt that after a while it would scratch up the front of the iPad. Even examining the cover up close proved that it was fake; there were a few little bubbles underneath the material on both sides and the seams were coming undone around the edges on a few parts. Definitely not up to Apple standards, I highly doubt that Apple would allow such cheap products to be sold in their name. Needless to say, after discovering that I paid just as much money for a fake smart cover that is not nearly as good as the real one, I was pretty upset and I returned it immediately. To anyone considering buying this particular product on amazon, beware, it is not an authentic iPad smart cover. However, if you don't mind paying a few bucks less for an immitation product that is somewhat similar to the real deal then go ahead. I, for one, would rather go to the Apple store to be sure that I am buying the real smart cover.

I recently bought a ipad 2 and decided that I needed a case for it so i purchased this one. It comes in a beautiful orange color. It can fold into a stand for typing and movies. It also folds over the ipad screen and will put your ipad into sleep mode. It works as advertised. But i think it works even better than advertised. 5 STARS!!!!!!!!

1) The orange seems pretty true to what it shows on the screen. If you think you're going to get something other than what you see, then your screen is off or you're assuming that the photo is bad. Normally I'd assume the screen is right unless you know your monitor is not true to color, in which case there are ways to fix that.2) Yes, the lack of being able to use the cover to support the iPad in portrait mode is a serious drawback and if I were making this decision today I might seriously consider a different purchase. 3) Since none of the other covers is as minimal in size and do not function to quick 'on and off' the iPad however, I still think this is a major reason to buy THIS cover. I believe that just the ability to quickly put it to sleep when pausing your use extends the battery life significantly. 4) Yes, it seems to attract dirt, I hardly like my 10 year old boy to touch it unless he washes his hands first!! But so far I have been able to spot clean even the chocolate off it. 5) The hinge does detach itself on a rare occaision and I have not found this overly annoying, it snaps back on once you have a little practice with the positioning. Overall I'd say that the magnetic design is brilliant.

Awesome and innovative cover functionality, and I love the color. It is not a "bright orange" but more of a "bright pastel orange" and I love it.Reading other reviews, I can agree with the point that it does get dirty easily depending on what you do with it. I found though its pretty easy to clean off with a mild-soap solution (when its not attached to the ipad) and a kitchen brush takes care of it easily. It goes off and on really easily, and feels VERY tight. I was worried with the magnetic attachment that it would flop off accidentally sometimes but now that I've used it, I can say that does not happen. Its a very tight fit... feels like its actually physically attached. Highly recommend.

I got my orange iPad 2 Smart Cover. I had read the reviews on here and assumed people were just wrong. Well, that was a mistake. I got the cover in the original Apple packaging, so I don't think it is a "fake," per se, but it is definitely not as advertised. The color was great and I had no issues with that. However the magnet was EXTREMELY weak. It clips on, but if you fold it around the back to use the iPad, the magnets disconnect. Fold it up to rest and elevate the iPad for typing? Magnets disconnect. What about folding it up and sitting the iPad up as a stand for watching a movie? You guessed it, the magnets disconnect. I played with this thing for 2 hours assuming that I was simply not understanding how to make it work, but after searching high and low on the internet, I think I just got one that doesn't have strong enough magnets for some reason (a complaint many people on here echoed).I love the concept of the SmartCover, but the one I got is garbage. I am going to send it back and maybe head down to a brick-and-mortar electronics retailer to see if I can try theirs out and check if it is any different. If they are all like this, I will be back to square one on getting a case.

Apple ipad smart cover,

This cover is so not worth the price. I wouldn't want it even for $5.00. It continuously falls off. The cover is very nice but the hinge is terrible and comes apart each time I open it. I like the fact that the ipad opens when the cover is opened and shuts down when the cover is closed. I am returning it.

Apple doesn't make an orange iPad 2 cover. There is nothing like this on the Apple site. I can't believe Amazon wants me to write this last sentence.

I was a little hesitant to purchase this because of all of the reviews saying that it's a fake. But I figured I would try it and return it if it wasn't what it should be. Maybe there was a bad run in there or something, but the cover that I received today looks and feels exactly like I expected it to. It has the soft microfiber lining that one of the reviewers said wasn't there. The box it came in has the "Apple Inc., 1 Infinite Loop," etc., address on it that another reviewer said wasn't there. The cover fits just like it should. It covers the screen and props up the iPad. For portrait, I just angle the cover open to the front or back. This isn't good if someone may bump what the iPad is standing on, but it's not bad. I also got the "Speck Products SmartShell, Lightweight, Ultra-Thin Case for iPad 2." They look and work great together. It makes it a little easier to hang onto.

Frayed and played!,
This review is from: iPad 2 Smart Polyurethane Cover (Orange) (Electronics)
We ordered this case for my mom after the apple store stopped carrying the orange color smart case. We figured that since the seller said it was apple that it would be ok. Well nope!!! This cover compared to my lime green smart case was a cheap comparison. Flimsy and then the edges frayed and started to really come apart after like 2 months use. Smh DO NOT BUY THIS CRAP FROM THIS SELLER. Just go to the apple store or target if you really want to get the smart case.
