5.0 out of 5 stars Great product!
This solar charger works great for my iPhone 3GS. The profile is sleek and makes it look like an oem extension. Construction is plastic, however it feels solid in your hands. The connector snaps in to my phone with a solid "click" which I like. Charging works under sunlight or through a usb port on your computer. Plus its very compact and easy to carry around. I would...

DO NOT buy this item. I used it twice. It worked flawlessly the first time, however, my second attempt, while I was traveling on business, left me without an Iphone. DO NOT buy this item. I used it twice. It worked flawlessly the first time, however, my second attempt, while I was traveling on business, left me without an Iphone. The unit burned out the battery on my Iphone and I had to buy another Iphone while I was on the road. Apple would not honor the warranty because it is a 3rd party charger that has not been approved by them. Do not, I repeat, do not buy this item and have to shell out another 400.00 dollars to replace your phone. Learn from my mistake.

I had one of these for 2 days, and once the charge was full it overcharged the phone and blew the battery (and got very very hot).

Has anyone else had one of these when fully charged - and been OK with it?

Was it just my bad luck ?

1.0 out of 5 stars Unreliable, September 23, 2009

I don't understand how amazon could lend its name to this device. It comes with no instructions. I took it on a backtracking trip and placed it in the sun for 30 minutes. The iPhone got very hot--there was a message on the phone's screen not to use the phone until it had cooled down. And, as far as I could tell, no charge had taken place.

1.0 out of 5 stars Would be great if it worked, October 5, 2009
This review is from: Apple iPhone 3G 3GS Solar Energy Emergency Battery Recharger (Black) (Electronics)
It worked twice, after that the first problem was the solar panel didn't show it was getting light even though it was right in the sun. Then it started showing it was in enough light but didn't charge the ipod. And from day one it didn't fit the ipod, was to loose and kept falling off. FORGET THIS ITEM!

This gadget has a fake solar panel in it....that's why you have to plug it in. Don't waste your money.

1.0 out of 5 stars Buyers beware!!! Check reviews on product prior to purchase. I purchased this as a christmas gift for my son. Before it arrived, January 19, 2011

Buyers beware! I purchased this item for my son at christmas. Before it arrived he read some reviews that said the item may cause your iphone or itouch to break. Since it is not an authorized apple product, apple won't repair any damage caused by it. When I contacted the company to return the item unopened still in it's clamshell packaging. They told me it had been 30 days and " someone not liking the item" is not a reason for a return. REALLY?? even if it is unopened and not used? Since when???? They suggested I give it to someone else. Please purchase with caution.

The connector snaps in to my phone with a solid "click" which I like. Charging works under sunlight or through a usb port on your computer. Plus its very compact and easy to carry around. I would have preferred a higher battery capacity (this one is 800mAh) however for the price, I can't complain too much! Product doesn't come with a manual, however I'm sure this can be found online somewhere. Overall I'm very happy with this product.
