Those of you who are familiar with Andy Ihnatko through his books, blogs, or podcast appearances know what to expect. Those who are not....are in for a treat.

I would say this book will be most appreciated by those who already know the basics of the phone but want to know how to use it to do MORE. There are a number of books that give basic iphone instruction, but they only scratch the surface of the full potential of the iphone. This book is FULL of software and application suggestions to take full advantage of your new toy.

In the process of instructing you into the capabilities of the iphone as a tool, a toy, and more importantly a platform for future developement, Andy will make you laugh along the way. I bought this book as much for the entertainment value as for the information. I was not disappointed!

If you have no sense of humor, you may wish to choose another option.
But then again, who buys an iPhone if they don't want to have fun? Otherwise, you'd be carrying a BlackBerry.

I read the iPhone: The Missing Manual: Covers the iPhone 3G by David Pogue and it served as a "user guide" to most things iPhone. I recently bought Andy Ihnatko's 2nd Edition of iPhone Fully Loaded expecting it to be a tool to fill in some missing holes but mostly a repeat of the information in Pogue's book. WRONG! Andy has a first class way of delivering information from every nook and cranny. I have listened to Andy on podcasts such as MacBreak Weekly and I regularly read his blog so I knew what to expect by way of humor. What I did not expect was his fantastic way of delivering bits of information and tips that feel like a friend inside of the business 'whispering and waving for you to come over here so he can show you something few others know about.' I kept a notebook nearby while reading Andy's book so I could jot down every tidbit of information he shared. If you can afford to buy two books about the iPhone, then get iPhone Fully Loaded (2nd ed.) and iPhone: The Missing Manual by David Pogue. If you can only afford to get one, get this one (sorry, David!)

This book is great for taking advantage of all the semi-unknown aspects of your IPhone. I especially like the instruction on making use of video, such as flash, that I didn't think was possible. The style of writing makes it easy to follow the directions.

I really like this book. It provides information you probably won't get in most books of this type. The chapters on how to get non-iTunes media onto your device is worth the price of the book. Recommended for advanced iPhone users.

I bought this book because I truly enjoy Andy's appearances on twit podcasts, and it was a real treat. I already knew 80% of the topics covered but did not mind at all reading it all over again for Andy's comments are hilarious and informative at once, and that 20% extra I did not know really made me exclaim,, "Why did I not think about this before!" Great Book, Highly recommended,

The author knows his stuff, and the book is packed with valuable information. I, however, am not a big fan of his "clever" writing where the author exhausts himself, and his readers, by trying to be funny in every other paragraph. A funny every few pages is fine; but this writer goes way too far straining to be cute (to my taste), and often simply failing. Somebody--an editor, a friend?--should tell Andy that less can be more. And, most important, many readers I suspect would agree with me that we don't want to have to skim entire paragraphs that are content-free riffs on his personal views and "amusing" stories. It's a strange book. Probably the best book on the iPhone--damaged by way too frequent digressions. Snarky in a book gets tiresome after a while, just as it does in real life.

Writing style makes it easy to understand and to enjoy learning about the Iphone Good Job!!!

For anyone who feels the price of the iphone is steep, go ahead spend a few bucks for this book and you will see how much more you can get from your iphone. I found this book accidentally and now I am waiting impatiently for the 3GS, OS3 edition!!!
