Elago Apple iPhone 4 Premium Privacy filter-Protect Screen

I had this privacy screen for my iPhone 3G and loved it, so when I got my new iPhone 4 immediately bought this privacy screen. At first had a hard time getting the screen on my iPhone since it's a little thick which caused some permanent bubbles, then once I finally got it on the new retina display resolution really takes a beating, it's dark and cloudy.

Conclusion, I did buy this to get privacy which works best in daylight, at night you might want to dim your display in order to obtain best results, people see me swiping my fingers on my iPhone and ask me if it's really powered on, so overall.. it works!

I looked around and saw not everybody was totally happy with any of these privacy screens but I took a chance on this one and I'm glad I did. It has had zero effect on touchscreen capabilities (in fact, I prefer the feel of the screen to the glass) and the resolution is fine looking straight on. The privacy feature is very effective. I'm 100% satisfied with the product

I don't know why there are some negative comments when you know what you are buying in the first place. Personally, I did not see resolution go down whatsoever, nor do I care about that.

Secondly, this screen is VERY easy to put on. They even provide you with a nice microfiber enveloped in a plastic case which I thought was nice. First I took off my clear phone case, wiped my screen down with the microfiber and peeled off the back of the privacy screen and applied it on. I got it perfect on the second shot, the first time I mis-aligned the home button, so I re-tried. If you get air-bubbles, (which I got some), just use a credit card to push out the bubbles.

The screen does what it's suppose too and that is hide what your doing from people next to you.

Only con that I don't like is that when I use to hit the home button, I could easily tell if someone texted me. Now with the privacy screen, I almost have to pick up my phone to see who texted me. But, that's what it's for, so I'm glad I bought it.

One last thing, it did make my screen darker, but I still keep it on the same brightness which is about 25%. I could raise it to 35-40%, but I don't see a need to.

The material is cut to fit the shape of an iPhone 4's screen. It fits well and doesn't alter the touch-sensitivity of the device.
It's a bit thick, but that's actually an advantage on the iPhone 4 as thin films get pushed up at the edges by any of the bumpers/cases you're forced to use because of the design fault in the iPhone 4's antenna. This screen protector appears to be manufactured from the same type of material that Elago used for the 3G and 3GS screen protectors, but here's the problem with that: the iPhone 4's display has a higher resolution than that of the 3G/3GS - until that is, you put this screen protector on. It does provide off-angle viewing privacy, as claimed, but you will not be able to tell the difference between the iPhone 4 display with this film on and that of a 3G/3GS display.

Come on manufacturers!! Get your act together and stop ripping us off with yesterday's technology. The iPhone 4 display needs a better-quality privacy screen protector/film than this.

I purchased this protector for my girlfriend's White iPhone 4 so I wouldn't be as jealous of who she is texting all the time(JK!). She wanted a cover with privacy to protect her phone and not let her coworkers see anything. I did some online comparisons and for the price, this seemed like it might work.

The protector itself is pretty thick, but not surprising since it is accomplishing everything you need in a protector. I had no issues getting it on the phone. There was one dust bubble that you really can barely notice since the protector is think and dark.

When she is using her phone, during the day, I can't see on thing on her screen, almost 100% privacy. At night, or in dimmed rooms, when the LCD display is "brighter" than the surrounding light and you can see little more on the screen, just a little blurred.

Since she has a White iPhone 4, this renders the front of it gray, with a white home button. Kind of cool looking when she changes out some of her covers.

Works great for privacy in the vertical position, not so much in the horizontal position. I'd read the reviews previously posted, so I wasn't surprised by that. I think the price was a bit steep for one screen protector, but I've been using it for a few months and it's held up incredibly well, so I guess I shouldn't complain. Yes, of course it takes away from the quality of the "retina" display, but not so much that it's not worth having. I'm very impressed with this product and certainly will purchase another if and when this one needs replacing.

I've bought at least five other privacy screen protectors that I was unhappy with. The others were too dark to the point that i had to turn my brightness up so much that my battery was draining, but they offered no privacy when someone sat right next to me. However, with this screen protector, the person right next to me can't see anything other than a black screen. I've actually gotten looks because people think i'm playing with my phone when it looks off. The screen protect is thick which is what I had expected, but it's not so thick as the other ones where i had to put more effort into texting so that it would have to register. The application process was a breeze and i have no bubbles, and the piece of cloth that came with the screen protector to dust it off worked REALLY well - there was no dust left after i swiped it down my screen. I'm going to be keeping that cloth. the texture of the screen protector also feels matte, which is what i like. I don't have to put my brightness up because i can see it just well and it even works in direct sunlight just fine. the cut outs for the home button, camera and the hearing piece are large which is great because i didnt waste precious time putting it on so that it would align perfectly so i didn't collect any dirt.

I had the iFrogz Privacy Protector for the iPhone 4 and it lasted me maybe a month. It started getting spots in it that showed light through the privacy protector. Weird. I bought the Elago and wow, is it nice. Of course, any privacy protector is going to distort the Retina Display, but the privacy this protector gives you is unsurpassable. Only con I see is the home button cutout. I pulled out the cutout and the edges on the protector are a bit jagged, but it's barely noticeable. Bottom line, 5 Stars!

I received this screen protector today in the mail. It does what its suppose to. The screen still works great. BUT........the resolution of the screen on the iphone 4 is worse. If you can live with that...your in for a treat, because this is a bargain!

This screen is durable and good privacy. People ask me is your phone off? And I'm like no haha good product
