Customer Reviews

It didn't charge an iPad and iPhone or an iPod and iPhone or 2 iPhones!

These have little locking clips that require you to squeeze buttons on each side of the connector.

I used this thing for about a week before one of the cables stopped working.

You're looking at this cable because you've got yours and your spouses' iPhones, or your iPhone and iPad, and you need to charge both at once, and you don't want to take two power plugs and two cables with you.

Right?

Great. This cable will do exactly what you need. But you need to know a few usage tips that have snagged what happened to these negative reviewers.

1) iPad 2nd and 3rd generation requires more power to charge than the small little square two-prong USB plugs which only deliver 1.1A. (Such as this one: Apple USB Power Adapter (Newest Version) [Retail Packaging]) You have to use the small brick that delivers 2.1A or greater that came with your iPad 2nd or 3rd gen or iPhone4S. iPhones WILL charge on the 1.1A. It's very hard to read but look at the small print on the charger and make sure it says 2A or greater. Here's one: Genuine Apple Branded iPad / iPad 2 / iPhone 4 /iPhone 4S 10W USB Power Charger Adapter (Plug)

2) If you're charging two devices, use the small brick that delivers 2.1A. The 1.1A will not always have the juice for both when you split it.

3) If you need to sync a device, you can use this cable, just make sure you use the port that has the little "sync" icon and not the "lightning" icon.

4) Both plugs WILL charge two devices. There is no magic of the "lightning" plug versus the "sync" plug AS LONG AS YOU HAVE ENOUGH AMPS (see point 2.)

5) The port plugs LOCK INTO THE DEVICE. You HAVE to PINCH THE SIDES TO REMOVE THEM. Don't muscle it off. This is a safety mechanism that has kept my phone from hitting the floor when accidentally pushed off the end of the table MANY times. It's a FEATURE.

I haven't had any trouble with this. For many nights it has successfully charged an iPhone 4 and iPad from one AC wall charger.

This was a perfect solution for my needs, one 30-pin connector provides only for charging and the other 30-pin connector for syncing and charging. I often use an iPad or iPod not linked to my computer/iTunes so the second power only connector is ideal as I can charge two devices simultaneously and do not have the annoying messages regarding the devices being synced to a different library.

I think the people having problems with this cord are hooking it up to an inqdequate power supply. It is not the cord's fault it is the fault of the power supply.

Can't beat the price compared to what you would pay in the stores for a piece of wire and some plastic bits.

Amazon delivered on time, as usual.

Would have rated it a 0 is possible. Neither port fit my iPhone 3GS. Compared it to my other iPhone charger and the ports are slightly too long. Will be returning for a full refund. Don't waste your $$ on this one.

So, chalk it up to user error.....with my original port that came with my iPhone, you use the cord with the "printed" side up. With the dual cord/splitter, you use it with the "printed" side down. Also, I saw another review about the port getting stuck and having to take the cord apart to get it out. I also thought the port was stuck in my iPhone until I noticed that you have to press in the sides to take the port out. Don't have this function on my original charger. Hope this makes sense and can help others from shipping it back because they also think it doesn't fit or that it is stuck..... I changed the rate to 5 stars. I got it to use with Trent 1000 and have tried the splitter with 2 iPhones and both were charging just fine at the same time.

I have two of these cables and am buying a third now because my dog chewed through one of them. Don't understand why people are bashing it. It does exactly what I need it to do: charge an iPhone and an iPad overnight.

The two cable ends are different. From what I can tell, the one with the round icon on it is the more powerful of the two ends. Use it to charge an iPhone quickly or an iPad overnight. The one with the lightning bolt icon has less power. Use it to power either device or charge an iPhone overnight.

To make the most of this cable, you MUST use it with a USB wall charger -- not your computer. You can use the iPad charger or any 2.1A or higher USB adapter. I've had excellent success with the Griffin 120 VAC 5A PowerBlock Plus, which also includes a wall plug.

This is not a fast charging cable. It's not a syncing cable. But it works fine for charging devices overnight. I have one set up at my bedside so I can keep both devices handy and charge them overnight.

The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because I think it would be better if it had higher output on each cable for faster charging.

I am very disappointed in this product. The iPod-type connectors have symbols on them, one with a sync symbol and the other with a lightening bolt. The devices (I have both and iPad and and iPod touch.) only charge when connected to the one with the lightening bolt. Not at all as described.

My husband and I keep this in our kitchen and it allows us to
charge both of our iPhones simultaneously when we walk in the house.
With our iPhones and iPods, having a good quality multi-cable is very
convenient. Thanks!
