My wife shattered the screen on her iPhone, so I bought this kit to fix it. I was more than a little hesitant to do this. I'm pretty good about fixing things around the house, but I knew the size of all the parts involves would be very small (I was right). Nonetheless, this repair went off without a hitch. This kit contains everything you will need, perhaps with the exception of a pocket knife and hair dryer for loosening the glue in the final step to remove the damaged screen. The tools seems to be of high quality-- all of them worked exactly as advertised and as needed.

First let me say this: watch the Youtube video. Somehow, I managed to miss the memo that there WAS an video... so I completed my repair using only the written instructions (which I found to be easy to follow). Only later did I see the video, and I can say with confidence that it would have been even easier to do the repair with the video as a guide. Nonetheless, I took my time, and carefully kept the screws and other parts carefully labeled (I used clear tape afix the screws to a piece of 8.5 x 11" paper, with a step number next to each group of screws-- they do vary in size, so you won't want to just put them all in a pile).

I made a few mistakes, none of them amounting to any real problems, just necessitating reversing myself and doing a step or two over again. But in doing that, I needed to make called to iCracked. I found it VERY easy to get a real human on the phone (something rare in the world of customer service these days), and they were always extremely helpful, patient and courteous.

So the bottom line: this kit allowed me to completely restore my wife's iPhone back to original condition. The experience was actually pretty interesting and fun for me.

I don't write a lot of reviews (mostly when something doesn't work) - but this kit REALLY surprised me. It worked. I've never repaired a phone before, but consider myself technical and mechanically inclined so I thought I'd give it a shot. I can't believe I fixed this phone for under $75! (I dropped my iPhone 4s and shattered the front glass.)

I highly, highly recommend you buy the magnetic flow chart they sell. I got mine for about $10. The screws that come out of the phone are very tiny. The flow chart has a place to set each screw so it doesn't bounce around, and you can easily find it when you're putting it back together. For example, there's one step where you have to take a part off with 4 screws - but there's two different sizes - two smaller, two larger. The flow chart shows you this so you don't mix them up.

I don't think you have a chance of doing this successfully without the companion video on their website. I think the video was really well done. The video I used is about 34 minutes long. Took me about an hour total because of pausing and replaying certain parts.

Now, why only 4 stars? I'd actually probably give it 4.5 - due to the following:

Positives:
- I think the kit is high-quality - glass "seems" to be OEM quality
- I think the tools in the kit were (generally) high-quality
- The magnetic flow chart (sold separately) is awesome
- The support site and video were very good
- My kit came with extras like a cleaning cloth, fingerprint-proof protective screen film pre-installed and a bumper case
- In the end, I fixed my phone for less than $75 (kit plus magnetic flow chart) in about an hour

Negatives:
- One tool in the kit - a plastic "spudger" was pretty flimsy.

I purchased this one over some of the half-price alternatives because the quality of this one seemed to be much more consistent. I was not disappointed--the quality was great, and the instructions made the process as easy as it could be made. This one almost gets five stars (see below).

Two complaints (the reasons this gets only four stars):
1. iCracked provides a video tutorial to accompany the printed instructions. However, the video had the steps in a different order from the printed instructions. By watching the video and reading ahead in the instructions, I was able to make sense of the process, but that confusion made the process take longer than it should have. Other versions may not have the same problem, as the instructions will be unique for each phone.
2. I had the entire phone reassembled and was cleaning up when I found an adhesive strip that was included with the screen kit, which I hadn't noticed before. This adhesive strip was obviously intended to go on the back of the replacement screen. The problem is, the instructions never mentioned installing the adhesive, either in the video or in the print instructions. I followed the whole process very carefully, so I'm 98% sure installing the adhesive wasn't mentioned in the instructions anywhere. Since I didn't notice the adhesive until after I got the phone reassembled, I left it that way, and it appears that the lack of the adhesive is almost completely unnoticeable--so in case you miss the adhesive strip, it appears it isn't absolutely vital to the function or appearance of the phone. That being said, it's obviously preferable that the entire phone be restored as close as possible to the original condition, so you'll want to keep an eye out for the when the adhesive should be installed.
