5.0 out of 5 stars Awsome Toy for Car Lovers!!
We saw this toy on display at our local toy store, and my two and three year old fell in LOVE with it. They play with it all the time, and it is by far their favorite toy- even more so than their Thomas train table, which is saying a lot.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not worth the price
My child always wants me to create roads for him, whether outside with chalk or inside with whatever we can find, so I thought this would be a great toy for him. The packaging is attractive and the concept is neat, but it has many problems. After one day of play these are the things that I have noted: 1st, the tracks move constantly. We have hardwood flooring, so maybe...

We saw this toy on display at our local toy store, and my two and three year old fell in LOVE with it. They play with it all the time, and it is by far their favorite toy- even more so than their Thomas train table, which is saying a lot.

Although the track isn't very hard to set up, it is a little challenging for my boys. However, we usually set it up, and then leave it set up for a few days, and then re-arrange it to a different design. We have carpeting in their room, so we don't have the problem that the previous poster had with it sliding around and moving constantly.

The cars do move fast when they have fresh batteries in them- but my boys, at least, think it's hilarious when they jump the tracks, which doesn't seem to happen all that much, to be honest. These little cars do go through batteries quickly though, so I would highly recomend having rechargeable batteries.

One of the coolest things about this toy is how well the cars grip the track and how powerful they are. My boys like to have the track go up and over pillows, blocks, etc, and test out and see what those little cars can do!

This is a great toy. My husband and I are SO glad we took the chance and bought it for them. It allows kids to be creative, use constructive reasoning, test out theories... and plain old have a great time with toy cars.

I was very skeptical about this toy, but not anymore.

The Build-A-Road Deluxe is not perfect. The cars do topple on too-steep inclines, but you can adjust the track, and in doing so, you learn little by little how to position the road so that the cars can do better -- it's just physics. The cars are feisty, which is not necessarily a bad thing. Sometimes they offroad and race across the floor, so depending on the temperament and mood your child has, this could be either fun or hell. You can pit the two cars in opposing directions and have them face off and crash into each other -- also this could be fun or this could be hell for your particular child(ren).

Track movement on very low carpet is just fine. The point of this toy is to allow you to bend the road at will to make different layouts and curves, but the micromovement may prove frustrating for parents and kids depending on their temperament! The road pieces are easy to snap together, but maybe a bit hard for little hands, so to play independently with this, a kid should be older than the starting age of three on the box. I did not test the road on hardwood flooring and do not intend to because I don't want the kitchen to be the racing venue for this toy.

Battery life in the cars is not fantastic, be warned.

With all this, how can I say this toy is fun? We've been playing with it for hours, and we're having fun. The switch hubs work great, and in general I have no complaints about the cars or track. The cars weren't designed to be as rough as little Hot Wheels, therefore I think a direct comparison is unfair. A shell sits on top of the car's motor (and battery casing), and it's just not a rugged one-piece. In the current offroading affairs the cars are unscathed.

I first saw this set up in Fat Brain Toys. I took two of my grandkids, ages 4 and 3, in with me to check the store out. They saw this and they got no further into the store. They loved it so much I bought one right there as a Christmas gift. I later ordered one from Amazon.com as another Christmas gift for another grandchild. The one grandchild's mom has an in home daycare. She says this toy is the daycare favorite every day and it has now been 3 months since Christmas. Well worth the money. Great toy and very durable.

I bought this for my 4 year old, not expecting too much, but I am so surprised by the results, I cannot believe it. This is a very high quality and fun set which is easy to use and ingeniously designed. Both my 4 and 5 year old kids played with the set for hours and hours (and to be honest I made a few tracks too, and enjoyed it). I highly recommend this track and plan to buy it for presents for any of my kids' friends upcoming birthdays.

What a great toy - keeps the kids entertained for hours. They also learn how to set the track up in various ways so that the cars can go over and under all sorts of objects. The only problem is the cars. They worked fine the first time we used them, but the next time we set the track up the cars would barely run. It was as if the motors burnt out on each car. I read other reviews for this toy (with similar problems) and it seems as though this is not an uncommon issue. I contacted Amazon about the cars and they were GREAT. Amazon is replacing the set without ANY hassle and shipping is also taken care of. Hopefully the next set will be just fine. Overall, a fun toy for kids (and adults) of all ages.

I purchased this toy "Deluxe Build a Road" a little hesitantly. The box said it was for 3+. My Nephew is turning 6. He saw it at a friends house,of a younger friend younger by 2 years, the regular version not the deluxe. After playing with it for a good hour with his neighbor, he told me that is what he wanted for his Birthday. I watched him open the box and start setting it up. I looked at the components and got invoved as well. He didn't need my help..but I got so interested in it as well. I must say that it was easy to put together and the battery operated cars worked so well. We played together for at least an hour and I had to leave. I spoke to my sister and said he was still playing with it an hour and a half later. How often do you get to purchase a toy that is good as it looks?iPlay Deluxe Build A Road

Wow. We built and played with this track for 3 hours. What a great logic builder. You could see my boys brains working as they were building it. The trick is to get the cars moving on the track without them running into each other. Although when they did collide it got great hoots and hollers from the grand stand. But then there would be a meeting of the minds on where to make the changes. Great fun had by all!!

My son just turned 4 and has been pretty picky about toys. He wanders from thing to thing and usually ends up just wanting to play outside. He's been into cars and trucks a little, so I got him this Deluxe Build a Road for his 4th birthday. He absolutely loves it! It's the first thing he plays with when he wakes up and last thing he plays with before going to bed. To be honest, my husband and I really like playing with it too! You can make numerous different tracks, and the tracks and cars are very durable - they can go over stuffed animals, bean bags, etc. It's just a fabulous toy and I can't say enough about it!!

My son is two and is definitely too young for this toy.
But we like it anyway. My husband and I play with him when we bring out this toy.
He loves to watch the cars go and crash. Also puts them back on the track.
We like to set up the track and watch him get excited.

Haven't had a problem with the batteries like other reviewers at all! They have lasted a long time :)

Also some people mentioned that the cars fall over when going over the tunnels.
You can put rolled up socks under the track on the sides of the tunnel.
Even better- we figured out that is what the green straight pieces are for. (even though it isn't in the product picture)
If you put the green straight pieces on the side of the tunnels the cars run smoothly (up & down). TRY IT.

All in all it is a fun toy for children and parents.

I love playing with this with my nieces and nephews. It makes family gatherings so much more fun! It allows kids to use their imagination and create all kids of roads. I would recommend it for any child who likes to play with cars. The turntable is probably the coolest part though the ramps are really fun too.
