So I decided to pick up some of the tube-based ipod docs to see how they sound, as they have come down in cost.

The good:
Build quality is top notch.
Lots of inputs.
Subwoofer output.
Plenty of power.
Extremely cool looking.

The Bad:
The sound is compressed and thin.
Remote is tiny & flimsy.
It takes up a lot of real estate.

I must say I am really disappointed in the quality of sound from this device. It sounds very thin, and harsh. Strings don't sound smooth and beautiful, and guitars are way too bright and harsh. I did a direct comparison with a Roth MC4 dock that blows it away in every possible capacity.

Bottom line...don't waste your money.
