5.0 out of 5 stars Handy little multi-use tool
We looked high and low for a scraper I could use comfortably to clean caked on food off with. I have arthritis in my hands and the usually scrapers are tiny little hard plastic things I can't grip most nights.

This scraper is much larger than you might expect from the picture. It fits very nicely in my hand. Because it is silicone, it will not damage...

2.0 out of 5 stars Trying to be two things at once, it does neither well
If you have a tiny kitchen & don't have room for both a rubber spatula & a metal bench scraper, then by all means, buy this. However, like anything that tries to do 2 things at once, it does neither as well as the specialized utensils. Regular rubber spatulas do a better job scraping bowls, and metal bench scrapers do a better job cutting & lifting dough & scraping off...

We looked high and low for a scraper I could use comfortably to clean caked on food off with. I have arthritis in my hands and the usually scrapers are tiny little hard plastic things I can't grip most nights.

This scraper is much larger than you might expect from the picture. It fits very nicely in my hand. Because it is silicone, it will not damage your cookware no matter how you are using it. It fits securely in your hand so when you are scraping out a bowl of batter or whatever, it won't be slipping out of your hand in such a way that you end up contaminating your food with your hand, or covering your knuckles in cake batter.

We've decided to go ahead and get a few more of these - one to keep by the sink for scraping off cooked-on foods, one to use for scraping bowls with meat products - like when using ground beef for burgers or meatloaf, and one to use for things like batter and such.

Another added bonus to the silicone - it is heat resistant, so you can use it to scrape sauces, gravies and the like out of hot pans. Particularly handy if you're trying to make a roux and want to loosen up all the little cooked bits off the bottom of your pan before adding your flour.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fits everything, April 27, 2009

When this spatula first arrived I thought it was a mistake; too big, too rigid, hard to hold. I was so wrong. It scrapes any bowl clean - even round the bump on the bottom of my mixer bowl, it is stiff enough to deal with the heaviest bread doughs and even scrapes mixing spoons clean. I'll be including a few more with my next Amazon order.

5.0 out of 5 stars Triple-Threat Tool--it's the real deal!, October 3, 2008

There are scrapers that are good for countertops--so is this one. There are scrapers that are good for bowls--so is this one. Plus this one even works for wooden spoons. It's like buying three for the price of one. In addition, this one has the silicone molded over steel for excellent leverage and cleaning power. And the price is unbelievably low for such a quality product. I suppose you're going to ask next if I like it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great as a scraper, just be aware that it's not pure silicone, June 15, 2009

This is not pure silicone product, you can tell by twisting it - If you can see white patches/lines, then the product is being mixed with plastic. Since I only use it as a scraper, I believe this is no big deal and it works well as a scraper. In fact, I use it on my cast iron griddle to get rid of food that sticks to the griddle.

I know some of the silicone bakeware has plastic mixed in, that might be a potential health problem when baking in high heat since plastic can give off hazardous fumes. As long as you don't put this scraper under high heat, shouldn't be a problem.

5.0 out of 5 stars Indispensible baking tool, April 6, 2010

This is a fabulous scraper; as others here have noted, it's the right size, the right flexibility, the right shape... I mainly use it as a dough scraper (on the kitchen bench) and divider, but it's great for cleaning bowls and spoons and similar as well. With the metal insert it can even be placed on our magnetic knife rack, which solves my only problem - remembering to get it out of the drawer before my hands are covered in flour!

Highly recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars COOL Tool!, April 5, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: iSi North America Silicone Scraper Spatula (Kitchen)
I'll confess that I didn't get this to use in the kitchen; I bought it to use as a pottery tool. Recently I also used it when I was grouting a mosaic piece, and it worked REALLY well for that.

The metal insert is quite rigid, and it's easy to get & keep a good grip on it. The edges are very flexible, but not "mushy". I used it both for mixing grout, using the curved edge (which conformed beautifully to the bowl I was using) and for applying it, using the straight edge. It also did a great job of scraping excess grout out of the bowl. Unlike most tools I use with grout or mortar, it cleaned up like a dream. I was concerned that the silicone might be nicked, scratched or cut by the rough edges of the tile, but I can't find a mark on it.

Now I have to get one for the kitchen!

5.0 out of 5 stars Super Scraper, April 7, 2010

If you bake a lot this is the best scraper. When you are done mixing your dough (in a Kitchenaid stand mixer) you can literally clean the bowl. The scraper is designed with a piece of metal in the middle and it makes it sturdy and doesn't bend when you scrape making the job easier.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great kitchen gadget, June 28, 2009

Its stiff and flexible. A wonderful tool if you're a baker or do any whipping/mixing at all. Scrape the last bits out of any bowl or scrape the dough loose from mixing bowl to knead. Love it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Functional kitchen tool, March 18, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This tool works just like it's supposed to, it's not exciting, but it's far easier to use and more effective than a handled spatula for scraping batter or dough out of a bowl. I use it frequently when making bread.

5.0 out of 5 stars Does the job beautifully, January 30, 2010

Okay, no handle means you'll get your fingers a wee sticky depending on what you're using this tool for, but boy does it do a great job removing tough and sticky tough from a bowl. Cleans up very easily, and the metal frame inside makes it very sturdy.
