5.0 out of 5 stars Fabulous addition to my espresso machine!
I finally finished my can of Reddiwhip and used this for the first time today. I mixed together 14oz of heavy cream and two tablespoons of powdered sugar and poured it in. Attached the cartridge, gave it a couple of shakes, removed the cartridge, and squeezed the handle and voila! wonderful whipped cream. I doubt I will save money over the ready made cans of whipped...

3.0 out of 5 stars Isi WAS a Disappointment
I just purchased this and have only tried it three times. All three times, the whipped cream produced was too firm and clumpy. I'm following the directions, so I'm not sure what I am doing wrong. Also, the nitrous oxide that propels the cream out of the canister gave out halfway before the cream was used up. So I ended up scooping out the remaining cream...

I just purchased this and have only tried it three times. All three times, the whipped cream produced was too firm and clumpy. I'm following the directions, so I'm not sure what I am doing wrong. Also, the nitrous oxide that propels the cream out of the canister gave out halfway before the cream was used up. So I ended up scooping out the remaining cream.

All the previous reviewers gave this glowing reviews, which is why I purchased this. Either I got a dud, or I am a dud, because this device is not working for me.

Another caveat is that the cost of making whipped cream is far more expensive than buying ReddiWhip or a similar brand. The high cost of heavy cream and the N20 chargers make this a luxury. I guess if I could make the yummy cream that I anticipated, I would not mind the additional cost.

UPDATE: So I have used this every day for two weeks now. My nex move is to send the item back to Amazon as it is clearly not working properly.

Although the instructions clearly state that one charger is good for pint applications, I found that NOT to be true. The ISI brand charger lacks enough oomph after a few rounds. And maybe the dispenser is lacking as well, because after being refrigerated, I can never get any more whipped cream out of the canister. VERY disappointing, considering how expensive the whole set-up is.

My family and I are die-hard whipped cream lovers, but I'm
wondering whether the additional expense of owning an ISI is worth it. But I already own 50 chargers, which can not be returned.

To throw salt in the wound, my local grocery store had the 8 oz canister of Reddi Whip on sale for $1.79.

Latest Update:

I returned the whipped cream maker to Amaazon and bought another one -- same exact model. The replacement works like a charm. So I guess the first one I bought was defective in some way.

So I would give the ISI 4 stars. I'm taking off one star because (1) the whipped cream wil never be as perfect as whipping up your own by hand or with a mixer, and (2) the ISI brand chargers are not always reliable, Sometimes it takes more than one charger to propel a pint.

5.0 out of 5 stars We love both of ours!, August 12, 2009
By
Baker Man (Riverside, Ca, U.S.A.) - See all my reviews

We have both the 1 pt and 1qt whippers, The smaller one has gas left over after only one charger and fully uses all the cream. The 1 qt whipper needs 2 chargers regardless of how much cream you put in it so you might as well put in a full quart. There is plenty of pressure left after a quart of cream has been dispensed.

As to the cost of the chargers, a little looking on line and you will find them 24 units for under $10 so the cost is not out of line but if you bought them in a local cooking store, I have seen them as high as $28 for the same 24 charger box.

Don't expect whipped cream as smooth as what you will get out of your stand mixer fitted with a whip, it just won't happen but the product from the charger is as good or better than what you would get from a can of Ready Whip. You can also tint and flavor your whipped cream, this is not an option with a store bought can.

If you have the hot and cold whipper, you can use it for hot liquids also, such as soup, try doing that with an empty can of Ready Whip!

We have had ours for over two years now and have never looked back.

5.0 out of 5 stars My favorite kitchen gadget, December 14, 2009
This review is from: iSi Cream Profi Whip Professional Cream Whipper 2416 (Kitchen)
If you are looking for a way to save money on whipped cream by making your own, then skip this and just go buy ReddiWhip when it's on sale. Even if you get one of these for free, buying your own cream and sweetener will cost more than buying the canned stuff. This won't save you money.

But that's not what it's for.

If you want to have much healthier whipped cream that isn't loaded with corn syrup and preservatives and additives whose names you can't pronounce, or if you want to experiment with lots of different flavors of whipped cream, or if (let's face it) you just want to impress the heck out of your guests by giving them freshly made whipped cream right out of your kitchen, then this is the kitchen gadget for you.

If you like unsweetened whipped cream, nothing could be easier or more dependable. Pour it in, charge it, and you're ready to go.

If, like me, you prefer it sweetened, then a few tips are in order. Whenever possible, use liquid sweeteners like Torani syrups or things of that ilk. You can just pour them in with the cream, close the lid, give it some shakes to mix, and then charge it. (Don't charge it until after you've mixed it.) If you must use dry additives (like sugar or Splenda), then mix them into the cream before pouring it into the whipper and make sure it's completely dissolved. Any clumps can clog the nozzle.

The flavors are endless. Some take some experimentation. About an hour ago I put some Bailey's Irish Creme in with the heavy whipping cream. It came out kinda tasty, but not really sweet enough. I'll add some sugar the next time I do that. There are about a bazillion different flavors of syrup from Torani or others that turn out great without additional sugar. I bought a bottle of Butterscotch Torani which makes amazing whipped cream without any ingredients but the cream and the syrup. You can also make amazing cherry whipped cream by just adding some Grenadine.

It takes coloring well, too. Add some mint syrup along with a few drops of green food coloring to your cream. (Mix this in a separate container to avoid staining the inside of the whipper.) The result is a St. Patrick's Day green mint whipped cream.

One caution: Always fully discharge it before opening it. I accidentally left it at my brother's house in his refrigerator last Christmas. He thought he'd do me the favor of cleaning it before returning it. He opened it while it was still mostly charged. I am told that the result was a kitchen ceiling, walls, floor (and brother) completely covered in a thin film of cherry-flavored whipped cream. His five-year-old son was very amused, but my brother and his wife weren't. Still, that story alone was worth the purchase price to me. :) I'm just glad the lid didn't rocket into anything or anybody fragile.

5.0 out of 5 stars im a whip cream pro....., April 8, 2010
This review is from: iSi Cream Profi Whip Professional Cream Whipper 2416 (Kitchen)
ok, so ive been working at starbucks for about 4 years now.... use about 7+/- tsp.(pumps) of SYRUP flavoring. powder will dry it out. hershey is actually pretty good or vanilla. after you put syrup in, then fill canister 3/4 full of heavy whipping cream. if you put too much heavy whipping cream or too little it will mess up how it comes out. also... shake vigorously(6-10 times) the nozzle upward and also downward before you take the charger off... shake 2x more with nozzle downward before each use. if it is shooting out too fast then you can twist the nozzle tighter. before changing the gasket(it will take a LONG time with home use) try taking it out and flipping it over and putting it back in... it wont leak anymore for a while till it really does need to be replaced. and these are dishwasher safe. you dont need to take the nozzle off to clean it, just pull the gasket out... with cap off hold trigger with water running through it till clear. the only reason starbucks replaces these would be b/c of dents. you can buy new nozzles and new gaskets and im sure the top piece separately as well. if you need help with these im sure your local starbucks will help.

5.0 out of 5 stars Addicted to Whipped Cream!, March 10, 2010
This review is from: iSi Cream Profi Whip Professional Cream Whipper 2416 (Kitchen)
My Leading Lady had this in her Amazon Wish List, so I bought it for her. It's been truly wonderful to use and enjoy fresh whipped cream. Here's the secret... be careful how many times you shake the canister before dispensing the cream. The more you shake it, the thicker the cream will be. So start with 3 to 5 shakes and see how it looks. If it's too thin, just shake 2 or 3 more times. Not 50 times!

Our recipe is to use fresh raw organic cream, add nothing to it and we get a great-tasting, healthy, whipped cream. Yes the natural fats in a raw (unpasteurized) cream are actually good for you in moderation. If we want it sweeter, we have found that adding a bit of maple syrup, stevia, or agave nectar does the trick.

The best part about this unit is that you get to control what your whipped cream is made from. If you want it the way you want it, this is the unit for you.

Funny things... we were at a local Starbucks the other day.. and they were using this exact unit to add that famous whipped cream topping to their coffee drinks. Now you know.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great product and I use it for quick vodka infusions, October 8, 2010

I've had this product for several years now. It was actually at the bottom of the kitchen drawer unused for a very long time. Cutting down on fat and all that. Just recently it got re-purposed for making quick vodka infusions. I cleaned it up, these things are simple, remarkably well built and started making quick infusions from vodka or whiskey. You can enhance almost any kind of liquid with this method because the nitrous oxide in the chargers is inert. I have a full description at ilikethis.com

5.0 out of 5 stars Great product, wish there was a way to self-fill the N02 cartridges, June 29, 2009

Product works as advertised and my wife loves it. I was used to doing whip cream the old fashion way with a mixer but this makes it all much easier. I still wish you didnt have to purchase and then waste all the aluminum cartridges or maybe re-fill them from a larger cannister.

I purchased this stainless steel cream spritzer to replace an aged one of the same brand (is there any other?) that had plastic and aluminum parts.
This one works flawlessly and is rather handsome. Highly recommended.

This review is from: iSi Cream Profi Whip Professional Cream Whipper 2416 (Kitchen)
I received mine in a box that had been unsealed which was my first disappointment. Second, I expected that the ISI (Austria) products were made in europe but this was made in China, seriously, you can't make enough money on a $[...] creamer if you made it in europe?. Third, I paid the extra bucks for a stainless unit and then it states on the box that the head is aluminum, only the bottle is stainless. I realize that the description is lacking on the net but this is boarderline fraud.
